I was wondering the same thing...
but ya, who knows if they would honor the price if the sets start getting $600 or more each

Might be a lot of negative feedback coming.

I hope I am one of the first to get a set in hand. image

Really depends on the price. If the price is high enough, I am sure many sellers will have their sets "stolen" or the Mint cancelled their orders image

    What do you mean? image
  • It means the un-ethical sellers will lie to get out of the pre-sold deal. If they say they already sold it, it was stolen or the mint canceled their orders ebay and paypal will allow them to cancel the transaction with no penalties.

The presale game is a tough one!!! Honor is not an eBay prerequisite. Thank God for the BST where most are honorable and their word is good.

I predict that these unopened sets will approach a thousand dollars a set. I remember that the 20th anniversary sets approached $500-600 and that was for only three coins that originally sold for $100 a set.

Bet there's a lot of bummed out people who sold sets for $400 or less. I could see these at $500 in the next couple of days. If APMEX is buying at $425 you know they are worth alot moreimage
  • You could have sold to board dealers for $50-$100 over cost...

    Glad I didn't

The buy price is for transactions exceeding $10,000.00. For transaction of less than $10,000.00 the price paid will be at the discretion of APMEX and may be less than what is displayed here. If you own these items and would like to sell them to APMEX, please call 1(800) 375-9006 and ask to speak with someone in our product purchasing department.
Wonder how many people will have ordered enough sets to meet that $10,000.00 nut.? image
  • APMEX has been posting that disclaimer for a couple years now. Offer them 5 sealed sets for $2125 delivered and they'll buy.

I wonder if anyone will ever open these pre grading? I can just see all the outer shipping boxes sitting on dealers tables at all the Nov and Dec shows. Awesome. The mint could just have shipped unwanted pucks in there place and no one would be the wiserimage

Tell them to buy one on the open market or you'll neg them. That's the risk they take when they sell something they don't yet have.

    Prices are everywhere $6000 - $2100 for a box of 5 BIN.
One guy had 1 set for $1800, pipe dream.
Auctions ending around $500 for one set, some in the OGP, some out of a box of 5.
Think I saw a couple BIN's for one set at $475. In hand, things may change.

MY opinion, even though you didn't ask ME, is that they will stay strong for quite some time and then perhaps fall a bit and level off.

Not a true apples-to-apples comparison but the 2010 ATB bullion set did similar. I bought two at $975 from AMark and flipped one about a week later presale. Had I presaled the night I bought them, I could have made another $500 on the set. Then again, I learned from that.

I bought 5 ASE 25th sets, just presaled 3 for $1650 and will keep one for myself and keep one unopened on the shelf, in case the sets really do start going for $1000.

I just feel like these are going to go way up for the next month, then level off.
I don't have a lot of experience with mint coins, but I do in re-sale in general...and these are HOT, and hot means high (if you time it right)

Yeah, I'm sure the auction stated that if the mint order is canceled or unable to be placed, you'd get a refund, right? In bidding/BINing, you kind of agreed to those terms so...any "recourse" for something you knew was possible is probably null.

First there is no terms you mentioned in this auction.

Second, even if there are such terms, I still think it is very unlikely not able to place one order in the 4.5 hours?? The seller pre-sold the order, so he should be responsible to try his best effort to secure an order.

Third, even if the seller was not able to place an order before the wait list kicks in, he should at least get in waiting list with an order number. He should then communicate with the buyer to discuss whether he wants a refund or wait if the order will go through.

My educated guess is that he just see the market price is higher so he simply refuse to deliver.

Jeeze...what ever happened to people giving others the benefit of the doubt? What if the seller was in the hospital all day due to an emergency? What if the sellers car broke down on the way to work and he couldn't get to a computer to place the order? What if the seller had a family emergency? Just because you're pissed that the seller was unable, for WHATEVER reason, to place an order..doesn't mean you should pass judgement on the seller. While there are scammers out there and I will not throw out the "market prices are higher so seller refuses to deliver" theory but what if it was you?

Why didn't you just order 5 for yourself from the mint? You realize there are people on the boards that tried for 5 hours trying to place an order and just plain couldn't. My coworker was trying from 12-3 today and still couldn't get an order in. There will be PLENTY available so why waste your time being mad at something you cannot change?

Oh, care to link us to the auction that you won but the seller will not deliver on? I'd like to take a look at the wording.

Slightly off topic but this auction seems as though the seller will reap a nice return on his initial investment. Man I wish I could go back and buy a boatload of these sets.Unopened 2006-W 20th Anniversary Silver Eagle Set

Like all collectibles, they'll eventually end up in the right hands and none will be available. Time will tell and these could be available for less than the issue price some day. After they're here, but not after they're gone.
How many "MODERN ISSUES" can't we find on hand ? It's how many we have "in hand" that matters, right ?

( modern man food for thought) I don't pay a lot of money when it's coming to me telling me what it's worth.
I will pay a lot of money if I want to "COLLECT" it. Rant over. Thank you.

I wrote back with the message

    So, i wrote back
