Yes tough and it's an attractive filler that you should have no issues finding a rapid home for once the right MS example comes along!

Yeah, I should have no trouble reselling it - I thought it was a solid AU 55.
If it had a tad more head detail, it'd cost $2K more !!

I like the peripheral crust on the obverse, as it's an eye appealing mid AU example.
The problem with 19-S's and 19-D's in AU is that when located most they tend to posses some sort of stain or spots and are outright fugly.
<< <i>cool, it looks like a au 50 or au 53 >>
Its holdered by PCGS as an AU 55.

... but it was sold an hour before I called on it ... the dealer who I greatly enjoy his company... even called the buyer and told him
that this coin was only an MS 63+ and not nice enough for his MS 64+ FH collection. The funny thing is that I ended up meeting the
buyer in Chicago - when he looked over a group of SLQ's I had brought for imaging. He asked where my 1919-S was ... kind of jibing
me... and I mentioned what had transgressed about the 63+.
This guy proceeds to pull his 1919-S out of his bag, and lo and behold, there was the coin I "almost" bought !!
Fast forward a few weeks - and another 1919-S presents itself - courtesy of my good friend, Brocdstruck, and for his help with
another project, I offered to send the coin into PCGS for cross over as the grade or finer ... and if it did cross higher... he and I would
come up with a figure that both of us would find acceptable.
So, once this coin does grade, I'll have that slot filled with a great looking coin.

I didn't turn the coin down - once its in a PCGS holder
either in a 63 or higher holder, I still want it.

Well, the 1919-S NGC MS 63 is now, after an ATS submission
for regrade, it turned into an NGC 63+ ...
... and then sent to our hosts for "cross at any grade."
Some friends said it was too gutsy a move, as the coin
could have dropped in grade - but I had (have ) faith in
the coin.
I'm happy to announce that the new
1919-S is in a MS 64 holder..
It's on it's way back to me now as I type this.
The "hole filler" in PCGS 55 - which really does
have great detail for that date - will be placed
on the BST some time this week. ( Incorporating
it with the Type Coins FSH Thread of mine.)
I am looking forward to get the new 64
back so I can place it back into, it's Eagle Album.
I probably won't have it imaged in its new holder
until I am ready to sell it. It's on the ten year plan.
I should say "my" ten year plan . I plan on holding
this SLQ collection for ten years before I sell.
... Three years down and seven to go.

Lloyd,
Our mutual friend advised that it was
a solid looking coin and should have gone
a bit higher... He loves spending my $$......
I look forward to be receiving it when I get
to my family's home in Massachusetts after
the ANA show.

I wish I could consider stuff like that a "hole filler".
Successful BST xactions w/PCcoins, Drunner, Manofcoins, Rampage, docg, Poppee, RobKool, and MichealDixon.
<< <i>Nice coin from Duffydaddy! You pulled the trigger while I was "thinking" about it! If I didn't already have that one in 64FH I would have acted sooner. Nice pickup!! >>
Bob,
I have a 63FH and this set had a parameter I wanted to stay within,
nothing lower than a 63, nothing higher than a 64+. Oh well, I guess
nice crusty toning keeps it in line with the coin it'll sit next to for the
next dozen or so years, my newest 1919-S in 64.
A friend asked me why I swapped out a FH coin for a non FH, another
parameter of the set says nothing about having only FH coins, just to
retain coins with facial features, which this 1920 sure has !!
Looking forward to next weeks' viewing of the Just Having Fun collection.
Only one coin fits my set, and unless I hit Lotto within the next few days,
I won't be bidding on his 18/7-S overdate in 64FH ...

<< <i>Just added a nice AU 58+ CAC for the type set - over sized image in first post >>
Seems my images were too large for ATS and someone was nice enough to resize
and combine the images of my newp SLQ ...

<< <i>Is it just me, or do most 58+ coins have tremendous eye appeal? A bit of wear, yes but the visual equal of many coins in 64/65 holders. Coins like this are worth looking for. Nice! >>
Possibly the best grade for your buck. Gorgeous coins, if you are patient.
What is that by her right knee.......a misplaced mint mark??

Clashed dies showing the commonly seen "E" from E Pluribus Unum on the reverse.

Jon,
You should check out the New Aquisitions Thread ATS, and see
The overlay someone did for me ... It looks animated. Very impressive.
The E is the die marker for the 18/7-S as well, all overdates
have that errant E.
