Pujols a one game world series wonder?

Here is his stat line for the series so far:

Game 1- 0-2 1 walk
Game 2- 0-4
Game 3- 5-6
Game 4- 0-4

Not ripping on him but it was just 1 game, if it was a game that would be the clincher or a closer game I can see all the attention

he's still hitting like .330 with 3 jacks no matter how you look at it...

For tonight at least, everything he saw was low and away. Nothing was that hitable.

Based on where we were at the end of August, I don't think many Cardinals fans are crying right now.

Yeah, I'm not all that impressed. Doing something that has NEVER been done in the World Series. Plus, only 16 players have had that kind of game in the history of baseball IN THE REGULAR SEASON. 3 HR, 6 RBI, 5 hits, and 14 total bases.

That's just not impressive. Plus, we all know he cheats.

World Series wonder? my only wonder is how the heck did these guys get there in the first place? and what the heck took 'em so long to be as good as they always were? as a Cubs fan, i despise these guys, and yet there's no team i respect more......effin Cards. image

Pujols is playing in his 3rd WS. His WS OPS is about the same as his career OPS-a little over 1.000.

Since only Babe Ruth (2x) and Reggie Jackson (1977) have EVER done this, I suppose the media didn't know how to react. I guess after another 34 years passes and someone pulls it off, perhaps they will learn to lighten up and not make such a big deal out of this sort of thing image

Well, they probably felt like the owed him a little extra praise after they hurt his feeling so badly earlier in the series.

I remember watching the game when Reggie did it. I was 8 years old. Even being a Cub fan, it was exciting watching Albert repeat that amazing feat. No matter what happens the rest of the series... unless there's a no hitter or a 3 or 4 homer game by a player, that was the defining moment of the series and the one thing everyone will remember 30 years from now!

and given those numbers, he's still the only thing important thats going on with this World Series. Outside of Texas and St Louis, nobody seems to care.

He already has a WS victory, it wasn't THE pivotal game in the series and he made up for it on Game 3......Game 5 didn't impress me frm a coaching standpoint....who the heck tries to steal a base with their best hitter at bat? This was the pivotal game and that call to steal a base, whether the coaches or the player was DUMB!
  • Pujols Game 5
0 for 2.....3 intentional walks. 2 given by Texas and 1 by Allen Craig.

I'm really surprised that the baserunning isn't getting more play, even with phonegate in full-on media coverage. Does it make ANY sense to hit-and-run with Pujols at the plate in a 2-run game? La Russa's explanation about getting a hit through the hole is ludicrous given Albert has like 6 singles to right all year and the fact that the Rangers were pretty much staying away from the plate with him.

IMO, La Russa is over-managing and diggin himself holes left and right.
