How many negs have you given or recieved on ebay? Were they related or coins or other goods? I have recieved 2 and left 1. On the negs i recieved, one was coin related and the other was on a sub woofer. I could have sucked up and avoided 1 of them but chose not to. I left the guy a neg. (Back in the day when both sides could leave negs) This was out of 5000 plus transactions. I made it to around 3500 before the first neg.

The one I gave was for an item that took a month to be delivered and the seller didn't care (said it was my problem). The item did finally arrive and I withdrew the negative.

Looking for Top Pop Mercury Dime Varieties & High Grade Mercury Dime Toners.
I assume the guy didn;t realize it was sold and relisted it in error, but he never responded to any inquiries from me nor did he respond to the dispute, so I negged him.
Received three or four negs out of about 15,000 received as a seller for various bizarre reasons.
edited to add... regarding the neg left, the image of the coin in the listing was a Ch BU attractively toned coin. The coin received was a beat to sh*t VG (more or less) example.
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
I can count the number of negatives I've left on one hand and probably have a few fingers left. The ones I can recall, one was for gross misrepresentation / refusal of a return, another was a seller who never shipped a $4 item (and who later screwed other bidders out of way more than that). I won't leave a negative if a seller makes an honest mistake, I reserve them for the dishonest sellers.

I think I did neutral someone once though after a two month headache
editted to add : After reading the comment below, I thought it might be reffering to me. I just checked, and I never left a neg' or a neutral either ... on the one neutral I thought I may have left, I guess I must have decided it was much to do about nothing in the end

Of 1164 feedback received, no negatives... but one retaliatory neutral left for me from the seller mentioned above
So far no received after about 8 years and around 500 feedback
Left a few neutrals though

Same here. I've done very little on eBay recently, though. But I've probably had around 600 transactions, almost half of them as seller, and no negs (or neutrals) either way. Maybe I've just been lucky, I don't know.
-Buyer didn't pay for my old Gameboy... probably sometime around 2000
-Seller didn't ship me a computer cable... probably in 1999
-Buyer returned a silver eagle instead of a 1/4oz platinum eagle
I can recall receiving at least 8:
-Buyer claimed a coin was counterfeit, but never contacted me or asked for a return (and was wrong)
-The buyer in the aforementioned silver/platinum fiasco
-3 from a buyer in India mad that he had to pay a huge customs fee (not my fault)
-Buyer in China who claimed a $36 coin was counterfeit (funny, NGC just graded it)
-Buyer in China who never told me about any problems until he left a cryptic negative and followed up pointing out things that were clear in the photos and description
-Buyer in Germany who didn't think a full refund was good enough after a package didn't arrive
I've also had a few left by non-paying bidders upset that they got NPB strikes, but they were quickly removed by eBay. If I could leave a negative for every NPB (which I would if I could), my list of negatives left would be in the dozens.
Moral of the story? Dealing with international buyers is a major pain, but in the end, the good ($$$) outweighs the bad, frustrating as it may be...

And that`s in over 10 years
I recently left a neutral for a coin that came to me in a milk white PVC flip and the coin was absolutely covered in the stuff. The coin was fine after multiple acetone baths but I wanted to warn buyers that the rather prolific seller of coins didn't look out for his buyers. I left something like
"Coin shipped in PVC flip, PVC=Poison for coins please check yours" or something like that but he was livid. The negs I have left were for fake gold, fake coin and one dispute was a fake tough guy of a seller that wanted to rework the price after the fact.
As a seller I have never received one but to be honest I could care less if I did. I think people put too much weight into a internet rating.
1 neutral to a seller
5 or 6 negative to sellers - all for not shipping the coin (I mainly buy gold bullion) All were more of a heads up to other buyers to get their claims going as they weren't going to get their gold
I received one negative 6 or 7 years ago - on a $2.99 item that had a crack (showed up real well in the picture) that I disclosed.
I could have left one more when I had to file a SNAD case, but agreed no neg to speed up the refund.
types) then negs are richly deserved. Why is it so hard at times to describe a coin fairly? I'd fully expect a neg in the same circumstances if I were the seller.
1- seller misdescribed a rattler 1867 MS63RB 2 center by calling it 85% RED, flashy 64+, likely upgrade. Photo stunk. Coin received had little to no red on it and was lucky to be
in an RB holder (25% RB). Luster was totally dead. One of the worst 63's I'd ever seen. But it was clean...lol. All I really expected was a 40-50% RED coin with ave. luster.
Seller stood by their description and refused a return. Paid $265...sold it for $130 a month or so later. What a dog. And my introduction to Ebay negs and shoddy sellers.
2 - same seller as #1 but with a different ID that fooled me. Had no clue they were the same business. A return priv was specifically authorized in writing to me
since this was an expensive raw coin (1795 half). Coin was not up to par and I asked to return it. They refused. This seller is a larger B&M coin shop in the mid-west. In fact
they now have 4 separate Ebay user ID's that I have found. Their first ID had dozens of negs and neutrals that they "had" to get a 2nd number. Over time I realized this
company specialized in finding old holders and then jacking the descriptions on them. At least I never ran into their 3rd or 4th Ebay ID's...lol. Today they might have a 5th.
3 - seller described a $20 Saint in a MS65 holder as totally spot free and flawless. Again, a poor photo. Coin ended up being covered with a milky white chalky substance
not seen in the photos. I didn't expect flawless, but certainly didn't expect a totally spotted/stained coin.
4 - seller described an old fatty MS65 RD early Lincoln as perfect and spot free. Only the obv photo was in focus. Obv was gorgeous. Rev photo was taken on an angle
where only about half of it was visible....rest in darkness. Sent an email requesting more info on the coin and seller plainly said the coin had no flaws. So I bid strong.
You guessed it....the unlit half was covered with a huge fingerprint. Never seen one bigger or bolder on a cent. Seller refused a return.
5 - scam auction where coin was never sent. In fact the auction was entirely lifted from another coin dealer's site from earlier than year. Same photos, same everything.
Ebay refused to investigate even though seller said they never sent the coin. Seller was acting as a 3rd party buffer between me and scam outfit. Didn't get a neg because
seller didn't care and stopped using this Ebay ID. There was no doubt in anyone's mind (USPS, govt internet scam center, local police depts) that it was outright fraud.
Just not big enough to waste their time with. Ebay actually said they could find no evidence of wrong-doing after providing them with all the evidence I collected. I wonder if
their customer service is any better today?
Interesting that even with those first 4 hits I was well in the black on my total Ebay deals. But #5 basically brought it all back to even and that was the last straw for me.
Of course this was when Ebay was still mostly the Wild Wild West. Now 4 yrs Ebay free and loving it. I had enough swimming in the cesspool....but do still observe.

.... let me think about that !

I was just about to give another. Bought and paid for a coin on Oct 2nd. Seller marked it shipped on Oct 7th. Hadn't rec'd it by Oct 12th. Wrote and asked for tracking info. No reply after several days. Opened a case with eBay. Needed to wait 7 days for seller to react. No response after 5 days. And then, totally unexpectedly, the coin arrived. It was shipped on the 7th and it took the PO 15 days to deliver a first class package.
I closed the case and left the seller positive feedback. I usually leave 5 stars, but in this case I gave him three for communication (none) and shipping time (5 days).
It pays to wait on negatives, doesn't it?
Lance.
The one I gave was for a Morgan I bought and returned all within the "no questions asked" return period that the seller offered. The seller then decided that her no-questions policy wasn't going to be honored. Of course, ebay and paypal returned my money (and paid for the return shipping) once they investigated the dispute.
I brought it to ebays attention , it must be the most cut and dry feedback extortion ever i thought but they did absolutely nothing and after a flurry of demands for the large refund and me asking for the item back for a full refund i got the neg and the french dude kept the item.
Ive never given a neg , pure luck maybe or ebay sellers are not as bad as they are painted if avoiding the obvious bad'uns. Oddly enough my favorite seller charges $4 for shipping , no DC , no nothing but a stamp. A lot of people would say to hit his stars , i say i knew what the charges were before bidding and worked it into the bid. This guy has some of the best coins on the bay ive seen for a long time.

Zero and Zero. I have been very fortunate to deal with great sellers. I have only had two bad experiences in 200 buys and I did not feel either warranted a neg.
the present.
All that said 99% of ebay transactions are smooth as silk
<< <i>I closed the case and left the seller positive feedback. I usually leave 5 stars, but in this case I gave him three for communication (none) and shipping time (5 days). >>
Ok, so he didn't communicate, but he shipped it the day you paid. Unless the seller is your local Postal carrier, he can't do any more to get the package to you faster. I just had a package take almost 3 weeks to get from Seattle to NY. I shipped it the first business day after payment was received. What else could I have been expected to do to get it there faster?
.
i have gave zero negs and one neutral that went to positive after the seller bent over backwards and earned a feedback revision from me and i was glad to give it
received a couple negs and i will say 95% of the challenges I have had have come from under $50 coins. seems people with money to spend generally know how to keep things simple when a few challenges arrise
