Thoughts on this Peace Dollar Toner?

One of my 5 cheap pickups in Pittsburgh...Not the best show for me buying-wise....

I do not believe that I can recollect any toned Peace Dollar

that I really liked. However, trying to compare a P.D. toned

to a Morgan toned is rather unfair to the P.D. I know I am being

unfair, but I just guess that I do not like most Peace Dollars, toned

    or otherwise.

I like the toning. Is it graded?

I think the peripheral toning on the obverse is pretty.

I think the dark toning on her face giving her a beard like appearance is interesting.

I think the big cut on the reverse hurts.

But for cheap? All in all I like it.

    I like it. image

After some time spent in the Peace world, I've come to appreciate much more the subtle colors that seem more common with Peace toners. Morgans seem to get these booming firework-esque colors, but often Peace dollars can have darker colors (like that green) or maybe purple tints, etc.

  • In the picture the coin looks nice but in hand I don't think it
will show the same colors. Lighting and angle makes it look
betten than it is. I have seen this coin some where before but
can't remember, maybe on the forum one time. Id the coin a lot
    dark in hand?

You might be able to run it through AFIS to see who owned it before you. image

    Hate the fingerprint...

    Pass.
Always looking for attractive rim toned Morgan and Peace dollars in PCGS or (older) ANA/ANACS holders!
