Opinions please on the value of a low-grade details 1914D cent

Well, sometimes a bulk deal pays some dividends!

A very good dealer friend of mine has a budget-conscious collector that's interested in coins like this.

Good bid is $170.00. Obviously, it's a details coin. What do you think the hammer price for something like this would do on eBay?

I have an idea, but I would like to hear your views as well.

Thanks,

Greg

I think it would bring about $125 on eBay.

I think you might be surprised. There is some decent meat left on the coin. I would not be surprised if the coin brought near bid or more with a good return policy as it is raw.

I have a 7-day return policy. In 11 years on eBay, I have had a return rate of about 0.33%.

I think around $130-ish is a reasonable bet. It's not problem-free, but I think it would still look fine in a lower-grade circulated Lincoln set, and it's certainly not damaged so badly that it would merit a considerable discount.

I like it. not a bad piece with good lettering it will standout in a whitman when people look for the vacant hole and see nice coin in there...sweet.

Id start it at one cent no reserve for ten days and you may be very surprised. just resist the urge to 'clean her up a little'. It will have to tone down somehow so dont take off what has started to come back from the old cleaning.

Nice coin. Very easy to see the die crack from your provided images. My guess...$110.

I agree with the ranges others have said. $125 plus or minus.

I'm gonna guess less than $100 realized after fee's have been deducted. Lots of choices out there with low grade '14-d's. Don't get your hopes up too much. That being said I like the look of it for it being a low grade example.

Would this coin benefit from professional conservation at NCS?

I agree with the higher guessers, looks like a retail about $170. I'd pay $100 just in case the coin isn't quite what it looks like in pic. And see how close I could get to $170.
  • Nice, clear date, no real problems, no corrosion ... this would sell in a heartbeat.
Let's try not to get upset.
