Really hate eBay

Bought a graded ASE on eBay and the seller only takes credit cards. No problem. I click the pay button and it tells me my address needs a phone number. Added phone number. Enter credit card.....El rejecto. Go back and start over. Says my address needs to be verified. Tried 5 different credit cards all matching the phone number and address. Fail times five.
Got with eBay support. "It's your cards, call the company".
Told them about the address verification and then they did direct me to fix some Primary address. Did that but it still doesn't work. Told him I did it so many times it had to have locked me out.
"It's the cards, call the company".
It's not the cards. It's the retarded eBay check out system which seems to really despise FPO APO addresses.
Plan B. I emailed the seller and hope he'll let me telephone him and give him a CC number.

<< <i>Why don't you complain to eBay -ALL SELLERS MUST OFFER PAYPAL. ? >>
Probably because that would be an incorrect rant. They do NOT have to accept paypal...but they must accept/process credit cards....
It is just that paypal is easier for most who are not businesses and do not have their own processing capability.
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
I have no problem with paypal vs credit cards. I signed up for a credit card processing service when the rule came out thinking that I would attract buyers that didn't have/want a paypal account but only made a sale or two a month that wanted to use credit cards and the fees more than ate up the profits.
Frankly, as a buyer, I couldn't imaging not having a paypal account.
As a seller, I like paypal but don't like the exclusion of checks/money orders. More and more buyers are forgetting that they can offer check/money order. I used to get offers like "$1200 and I'll pay with cashiers check to save you fees" but hardly ever any more.

So, you gave a complete stranger your 5 credit card numbers?

The data the customer enters is compared to that on file with his credit card company. If there is a mismatch the charge is denied with an "AVS error". Typically, the street number and zip code must match perfectly.
Frustrated customers getting this declination sometimes call us for help. "Sorry, there's nothing we can do when billing information doesn't match what you entered. Call your credit card bank and ask them why the charge was declined. We didn't decline it, your bank did." 100% of the time the screw-up was between the buyer and his bank, not the seller.

<< <i>Customers place orders on our company website using credit cards. It is standard practice for many merchant accounts to do an address verification.

99.99% it's an issue with your credit card..above advise should be your next step. On the other hand, the seller may have set up a parameter not to accept APO or FPO addresses.
I know I'm the stateside contact for someone with a DPO addy and I'm continually transhipping because of issues sellers have shipping to APO/FPO/DPO adresses.

No "buyer protection" with check or money order. That's the most likely reason why.

<< <i>Isn't this just a repeat of previous problems you've had with an FPO address JJ?

Yes. Repeat. Pretty sure the seller maybe has overseas buyers blocked or something. I called them and gave them a credit card number over the phone. All done. Filled out an ebay customer support satisfaction form.
It wasn't me, and wasn't the bank or the address or the zip code. Ebay just wouldn't accept the payment or something. Trust me FPO and eBay are damn near oil and water.

Never view my other linked pages. They aren't coin related.
I used to work for a company that did a fair amount of shipping to APO/FPO addesses (as well as to prisons, we had a very diverse clientele ), and we were constantly having to explain to the Post Office that they were in fact eligible for domestic postal rates (before computers).

<< <i>I have had nothing but trouble any time I try to ship something out of the country from trying to get it approved to it getting lost so I just do not do business out of the country. It is just not worth the hassle. >>

It has nothing to do with eBay's "retarded" checkout system, and everything to do with the settings the seller selected when they integrated their merchant account.
