Just out of curiosity, how many collectors who live near one of the four towns do you think would have traveled to one or more of the other four towns to attend a coin show, if they hadn't all been on the same weekend?

Check out the Southern Gold Society

  • I'm going to try to do them all !!!!!!!

One couldn't possibly get to all 4 in one day (OK, MAYBE the Nashua, then Portland show....MAYBE)....so, in reality, it isn't a bad move. Makes for an active Sunday up there. I'd like to hear from others in the area, as I'm not TOO far from Nashua, but to be able to hit them all in one day? These shows have the general collector base of Northern New England covered well this Sunday, I believe.
    I'll come up with something.

By the time you left Portland and arrived at Bangor, Bangor would be locked up tight! lol
    I'll come up with something.
  • Honestly Nashua has more variety (low end to high end stuff) Bangor has always been a good show. Never been to the VT show. Portland used to be a good show has gone down hill IMO.

New England is relatively small, but those shows are still no closer than 100 miles. The Burlington, VT show might as well be a Canadian show. I'm in CT and it's probably
easier for me to drive to the Baltimore, MD show than to Burlington. Big difference in show size too. The Portland, ME show is only held a couple times each year.
I'd like to hear of someone doing all 4 of these in one day as well. Nashua and Portand are only 110 "map" miles apart so that's easily doable...but probably not a 3rd and
certainly not the 4th unless you're Speed Racer driving the Mach 5. I always got a kick out of him driving down city streets at >300 mph...while making 90 deg turns and not hitting
    any cars, pedestrians or buildings....lol.

Well, if you start with Burlington you'll never make it to Bangor before the dealers have packed up and gone home. I'll be in Bangor (Orono actually) just a ten minute drive with a fair chance of actually buying something.

When I was dealer in New England eight years ago, Nashua was one of my best shows. It was simply wonderful, and I miss it now that I live in Florida.
Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?
  • I have decided. I will go to Nashua.
