Reason for cancelling ebay bid

Can't this only be seen by the seller?

Was reading a post in another forum where guy says "when I kicked in a bid that bumped up his bid but kept him as the high bidder, he retracted his bid stating "wrong amount entered"."

Ebay only offers a short list of reasons for a bid retraction to choose from. The reason selected is shown along with the exact amount (not the proxy bid amount) of the bid that was retracted, in the bidder history.

  • I always thought if someone cancels a bid for "entered wrong amount" reason, Ebay should have a way to force the bidder to place the "correct" amount before cancelling the first bid. So folks can't go bid fishing and know they have an easy cancel option if they don't like what they ask for.

If they did this the number of delinquent accounts and call center calls would skyrocket

The question: Can it be seen only by the seller?

I don't know the answer to the question. I'm just practicing my typing skills and reading "COINFACTS". I'll reserve my comments about eBay.

I like this idea. I have had to withdraw a bid before. I bid 100, but the zero key was pressed more than intended that I accidentally bid 1000.
  • Not sure why ebay or sellers care if people cancel bids since ebay has essentially created a forced return policy for any reason.

I'd rather someone cancel their bid that go through all the garbage of having to give them a refund later.
