Collectors lowballed dealers.
The convention hall food was mediocre.
Parking was expensive and inconvenient.
The exhibits were poorly lit.
The loudspeaker interrupted frequently.
ANA gossip filled the bourse floor.
And all the dealers left early.

"... and all the children are above average."
And so went the coin show in Lake Wobegon.
<< <i>Just to clarify a point that is apparently in contention. All you show attendees are NOT there for YOUR benefit...you are there for OURS. So please don't think about coins for yourself first, or selling coins if you are a dealer...collect gossip, review exhibits, try to start some trouble and then report it back here IMMEDIATELY. Also, stop by the CRO booth (and any others you see fit) every half-hour and ask them if they have posted their show reports yet. Find Charmy and get the Wine List. Think of us poor homies who can't be there. Now get out there and win one for the Gipper!!! >>

The only case of sticker shock I had all day was when the cashier said $13.00 for 2 dried up hot dogs and a coke
Day one and the nut is cracked for the show... I think tomorrow I'll go with the chicken.

Wei, even though I do love my wine, I feel that I should wait until after breakfast to open a bottle or people might think I like wine a little too much! However, a couple wonderful forum members (thank you Curly and Mar!) have brought me bottles of wine plus I had already picked up a couple bottles at the beginning of the show at a cute little liquor store across from the hotel - so we have plenty to go around!

Wednesday -- Plane landed at 3:15, got to the hotel at 4:30. Made it to the convention center by 5:15, said a few hellos and then off to the Welcome Cruise. Met Charmy, had an enjoyable dinner, quickly hit the casino then back to the hotel to watch the Cards win Game 3 of the NLCS.
Thursday -- Made it to the show by 9:45 for a 10am Exhibit Judges meeting. Judged until Noon. Ate lunch with fellow governor Scott Rottinghaus then back to the hotel for a short bit. Back to the convention center by 3:15 to review exhibit judge scores. Then wandered the bourse for a bit before our 6:30pm Board of Governors executive session which ended at 1:05am. Now it's back to the hotel for some sleep. Oh yeah, it was also my 40th birthday!

Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......

Well that's not good enough, I demand more. Sure glad I couldn't go.

The food a the convention center is frankly terrible. Tomorrow I will certainly go and find somewhere decent to eat lunch. The hot dog I had today reminded me of that Seinfeld episode where Kramer eats the 3 year old hot dog at the movie theatre he is promoting. I am fairly sure this hot dog was in the "cart" since before Wednesday.
The coffee for some reason is actually fairly decent, though I may have convinced myself of that as there does not seem to be a close place nearby the convention center to get a good cup. I did see some DD cups in the morning, but no idea where it is.
I went to the message center twice certain they had called my name, but I wasn't even close. I think they need to turn the volume up (when have you ever heard that in a show report!?!).
Maybe Saturday will bring some more excitement.
