Question for bullion collectors

I always thought the premium went up compared to silver content as the size of the "coin" went down.. example 2.00/oz over spot for a 12oz, 2.50/oz for a 6oz... My question is are 1/2 ounce silver coins/rounds that unwanted that they go for less of a premium per oz than a comparable 12oz or 6oz round?

Comments

  • The premium does not always go up when size goes down. A lot of generic silver carries no premium these days.

Generic 1/2oz silver pieces can be found for spot, or less. image

This is a good question to post on the PM Forum.

I have a one Troy pound silver 'coin' (exonumia type) that I purchased years ago from a forum member. I would not expect much over melt if I choose to sell it. Cheers, RickO

Sounds funny "bullion collectors" I think it is "bullion investors."

  • Lol i think of Bullion collectors as the ones who are trying to collect all the ATB pucks, silver eagle year set, art bars/rounds... and investors as people who don't care what it looks like as long as it's silver and at melt or below.

I'm a bullion collector... but I'm not crazy. image
I always try and buy as cheap as I can but don't mind paying a modest premium for scarce pieces.
1/2 oz. bullion does not usualy carry a premium over melt unless they are scarce or rare.
