Old QDB seems very spry for his age, and so does this dime!

1775, 2 known

Mighty large price tag for something that just does not get me very excited.
I guess the most amazing thing about it is the price tag for such an error that
appears to be quite limited in discoveries.

WOW! Glad I don't do proofs anymore! I had a 1970 proof no "S" and sold it.

    Don't do proofs......had to draw a line somewhere.image

Anybody interested in a one of a kind Eisenhower? image
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

On one hand, with 2 known, you could argue that this coin is better than a 1913 Liberty nickel. On the other hand, you could argue that there might be 10 more sitting in someone' safe deposit box undiscovered in a proof set, right where they've been since 1975. There is some downside risk for the owner of this coin.

It would have to be a 1775 dime to get me to pay $350,000 for it. image
Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

Need the following OBW rolls to complete my 46-64 Roosevelt roll set:
    1947-P & D; 1948-D; 1949-P & S; 1950-D & S; and 1952-S.
Any help locating any of these OBW rolls would be gratefully appreciated!

I agree, there could be many more lurking.

The 1913 nickel has alot of history and hype behind it. I wonder how the price of this coin compares to the value of a 36 year old 1913 Liberty nickel in 2011 dollars?

Interesting that Louis Eliasberg purchased his nickel in 1948 from Abe Kosoff and Eric Newman. I can't find what he paid for it, but it sold for $1,840,000 in 1996.

    Why not?

It is one of a kind and there ARE two of the 1975 No S Roosevelts.

Been that way for 40 years which is longer than the 1975 No S Proof Set (36 years).
