Used the funds, albeit kind of a light quarter at ~$23.00, towards my total on 6 cards I added to my work-in-progress PSA 10 1988 Fleer basketball set.

Bobby, That is a cool card.

I snagged a 1977 Topps Cloth PSA 9 nq Randy Jones for $25.00. Toughest card in the set. Glad I got that one knocked out for a low $25.00 woooh hooooh. Been over a year since one has shown up on VCP and the one before that was a year earlier. WOW.

Nice Sport Kings Baer. I believe that is a tough one to get.

I like this set more and more but I got lobster taste of a tuna fish budget.

    I've got $5.90.

I'm thinking a burger, fries and a coke - got it on ebay?

I did see this card and a grading company I haven't seen in some time - I'm thinking Capitol is like talking about 'garage' bands?

Knocked $176 off of this partial '68 set. The Ryan looks like at least a 5 with possibility of a 7. Bench probably 5, possibly 6. Mantle 2. Ton of other stars not pictured, but looked like a pretty decent gamble, especially since $176 was knocked off.

Good looking '5'....how is the back?
  • jeff8877jeff8877 Posts: 1,164 ✭✭✭
Wasn't a scan of the back in auction and was afraid it would be gone if I waited to get one. I am thinking that it might have a wrinkle, can a card get a 5.5 and still have a wrinkle??

    Thanks

  • Season 5 of Dexter on DVD and a '70 Topps Phil Regan PSA 9. The free Photobucket sucks so much I have given up trying to post pics on the boards; click on the attachment if you want to see the Vulture.

    Walter,

Nice pickup as that is a nice 70. I am also a big Dexter fan. Excited that season 6 has now begun.

Thanks. Your little acquisition isn't too bad either! image
I thought Season 5 was a bit of a dropoff in quality from the previous four, but I own all the other ones so what the hell. I thought Season 4 (the one with Lithgow) was phenomenal. Looking for a bounceback this season.

Hard to tell without holding the card... but I'm guessing it got the 5 because what appears to be a slight surface wrinkle off the upper right border... in which case, 5 is probably as good as it will get. Nice looking 5 though!
  • bought a nice relic card of Jackie Robinson out of the new Triple Threads.

Jeff, nice looking Mays! I am guessing there is anwrinkle in the upper right, as that card on eye appeal is clearly better than a 5. Congratulations.

Nicest looking Mays I have seen in awhile, the Mays and the Jackie never come up for sale at either decent prices or centered in any grade.

Like the Tony Perez. I wouldn't mind having his rookie card.....
  • jeff8877jeff8877 Posts: 1,164 ✭✭✭
    Everyone,

Thanks for the input on the Mays...was excited to get it, as Morgoth says, it never comes up in any decent shape.

I have a question on PSA grading...I know the highest grade a card with a crease can get is a 4 VG/EX...can it get a 4.5??

I also know that a card with a wrinkle can at best get a 5 EX but can it get a 5.5??

    Thanks Guys

I had a spot on Gibson rookie get a '5' with a surface wrinkle. Without the wrinkle, the card '6's or '7's....And the Gibson was centered, so I think the highest you can get is the '5'.
  • Nothing yet. I have $32 and all month.

My ebay bucks came to basically the cost of a lot of 100 serial numbered football cards (I had to pay $0.15).

I'm a sucker for cheap lots of numbered cards, and occasionally I find gems in them - like one lot recently that had Mark Stafford #/50 and #/100 rookie parallels.
