this is a dark side coin and bordering on wrong thread, but it isn't about that coin, instead the population of any coin in the world with a pcgs pop of 1

as of 1-13-14, although i saw it a while back, what was once a pop 1, is now a pop 2. grrr

If it is a Pop 1 coin pop 1/0 and you own it then.........they say college isn't for everyone so maybe there is some truth to that.

Thanks it's neat as a dozen or two were minted by John Gibbs Company in Belleville New Jersey as a tribute to his father who had a garden at his residence in New York.

I used to have a pop 0/0 coin - IHC 1c 1894/94 PCGS 66R - didn't ever show in the pops and there were none higher.

Only pop. 1 TOTAL I've owned have been one of a kind patterns or splashers.

I have a couple of pieces that are tied for finest known. This is the more important one. PCGS has graded one other piece as an MS-63.

Wow, only one graded in MS? Are there any under MS60? Or, if not then it's the only one
ever seen by PCGS, right?

Hmmmmm, I have 20 top pop coins (none graded higher) but thousands grades less. Oh well.

I have 4 different foreign coins that are the only ones PCGS has graded. The closest I come with a U.S. coin is a Walker half variety... PCGS has graded a total of three and I have two of them.

I have a bunch. The nature of the Capped Bust Half Dime Registry (by die marriage) set is that each coin needs to be attributed...which creates lots of pop one coins.

1788 Gilt Pattern Halfpenny, Peck-940, exceedingly rare according to Peck as he was only able to track two examples. Three examples now known, this one, one in the British Museum and Pecks personal example in the Birmingham Museum.

1964 Proof of Record Halfpenny, extremely rare, 3-5 known. This example and two in the Royal Mint collection have been confirmed, the British Museum and Birmingham have confirmed they do not have one.

These are both in NGC slabs so the PCGS pop will most likely remain 0.

It's a pop 1 in a PCGS holder. Perhaps the original poster was referring to coins in other holders (e.g. NGC) or raw.

POP top Pop 1. Cost $3 plus free grading. I also have a POP 1 1983-S proof 70 Washington in an OGH. Most definitely a DCAM coin, but I don't need one so I keep it as a novelty. Been posted here before and everyone said to resubmit and have it reholdered as DCAM. But, how many have been made since then in 70DCAM, and, how many are still in just PR70? Looks like a PCGS mistake. Must have been early.

POP 1, self-made $3 coin, 3 submissions, but 8 are higher. Got to try harder. Guess I don't have the grading eye yet.

In prior threads like this onw there were probably 75 to 100 pop 1 coins pictured here by many posters including me.

a decent number of them were pop 1 in all grades.

The next best known is MS-62

Just one measly pop 1 that I know of, but it's a circ Walker that probly isn't worth grading in order to get the pops up.

I have 3 different stand alone POP 1/0 Mercury Dime Varieties that PCGS Recognizes. Next month it could be 4 if they add a new one from the new CPG to the reg set that I have already.

This one is a pop 1 with no others graded in any grade by any service. I have only heard of one other at any auction or sale.

This one is the only one known in any grade. It is listed in Krause as "reported unconfirmed". I am planning to have it confirmed in the near future.

Currently Pop of 1 with 0 higer and 0 lower. The I know a few but there will never be more than a couple dozen graded so it will always be low.
