What Apmex is picturing is the most common style of Engelhard 3 oz bar. They're scarce but not worth $429. IMO $225 to $250 is more realistic.

Engelhard 3 oz bars with the Engelhard name topmost or with the bull logo are far scarcer.

Here is an example. IMO bars without the "+" sign after the 999 are earliest.

I agree with OnlyGoldIsMoney, these bars go for about $75 an oz or so. I picked the ones I have for around $200.00 to $225.00 each.

Rich, you have a pretty good start on a collection of 3 ozers, you just have to grab all the varieties of the 3 oz bar now. There also is one with MFR behind the serial number.

Actually $143.00 at Apmex is relatively cheap compared to Ebay.
There is currently a 3 oz going for $ 327.00 and a 7 oz going for $728.00

$327 (and possibly more) for the 3 oz Engelhard MFR bar will make the seller happy. With patience they can be had for well under $300 on Ebay.

7 oz Engelhard bars are far scarcer and make their own rules. The current one on Ebay could easily exceed $1000.
