Request help with an old buried cache

Hello,

I have a unique problem that I would like some help with. When I was a young fellow in the 1980's (about 8 years old), I was a budding numismatist, and I had an older brother who liked to steal my stuff. One day I decided that I didn't want him stealing my stuff anymore, so I found an old yellow coal mining drill bit box (it was made from heavy duty plastic, approx. 1/4" thick), I wrapped my silver coins in aluminum foil (nothing major, some old merc's, peace dollars, halves, etc.), placed them inside this box, and buried it behind my house, somewhere. I don't remember where I placed it, but I do know that it couldn't have been more than 7" deep. I have the general area narrowed down to about a quarter of an acre where I believe the box to be.

My question to the kind people of this forum is this: is it possible that a metal detector would find this? If so, what kind should I purchase to hunt this old cache?
