It's hard to make out the corners with the size of the scans

    Left to right:

    8 10
    9 9

    9 10
    8 10

if that white speckling is on the cards, they all got 8's.

I say 1 of 1 is an 8 and 3 of group 2 is a 9 rest are 10s.Card 4 of group 2 could be an 8 if that is a speck on the card on his collar.

Scans are too small, all I can tell is they have nice corners! But centering on a few look great though.

Check the UD hologram on the back, many 6's have a scratch on it.

The most likely explanation would be small factory creasing on the backs running horizontally from the left or right edge in about 1/4 inch. I remember sending back 100's to UD in 1989 for that condition. They would always send me replacement packs, which always had no stars, no rookies, and just commons in them.

I see a comment similar to this most of the time when an 89 Griffey question is posted. Does the hologram seriously impact the overall grade this much?

Are you planning to sell the 6s?

    Thanks,

    David (LD_Ferg)

It is counted as surface I believe.

The hologram doesn't play a huge part, but can cost a grade if not centered or chipped.
Like Frozen said, it's the small factory creasing on the backs running horizontally from the left or right edge in about 1/4 inch.

I've actually had one that ran across the center of the card on the back.
This was when I was new to grading in 1998 and mine came back a 6 as well.

    came back 9,8,6

the 6, I re inspected and on the reverse it had the slightest wrinkle

    I subbed 4 UD Griffey's thinking one 10 and three 9s. Got a 9 and three 7s. Apparently it's a very tricky card.
2.5 is pretty much my speed.

Please tell me where you pulled these cards from so I don't make the same mistake. Were they pack or set pulls?
  • Options
I subbed 2 recently, I expected two 9s maybe even lower. I ended up a 10 & 9. You win some you lose some.
