I expect every transaction to go poorly. When it doesn't, I'm happy. When it does, I was expecting it, so I'm rational enough to fix the problem and move on. I'll still buy from Kruk if they have a card I want and the price is right...but I won't hold my breath until it's in my mailbox.
Hell, between terrible USPS service and ignorant/stupid sellers, I truly always expect the worst.
As for not everyone being able to issue refunds; honestly, if I were a store owner, I'd have the same policy. However, as owner, I'd also be sure I had the knowledge/power to fix any issues in my "official refunders" stead.
Yesterday Kruk sent me $5 via Paypal. They didn't refund my $5 on the original transaction or gift me $5; they SENT me $5, so I lost $0.45 in Paypal fees. I called and asked the person who answered the phone how much BS I need to go through to get my $5. The person said they would send me another $2 and that would make it more than $5. Soon after that, someone sent me $1.50, of which I lost another $0.34. So, in total, Kruk sent me $6.50, of which $0.79 went to Paypal and I received $5.71.
Does no one at Kruk Cards know the right way to send a refund, or are they just so wasteful with money that they don't mind giving extra money to Paypal that they don't have to? They are definitely the epitome of a careless business. >>
FWIW, I am pretty sure that Paypal now takes fees out of refunds. So even if they HAD sent you a $5 refund (instead of just sending $5), money would still have been taken out. Not sure whose side it gets taken out of, however.
I recently refunded someone who over paid me on shipping. PP didn't take fees from myself or the buyer on the refund. In fact what happened was quite the opposite. They credited me some of the fees when I sent the refund and the buyer got the full refund amount.
No fees are taken out on a refund. In fact, as a seller you will be credited back the original paypal fee when sending the refund so if you send back$ 100 through the refund option, it will only cost you $97.

I had that same problem a few years ago. Seriously I would've expected better from that dealer.
I had seen this thread when it was started and made a mental note about the company. So today I get an email from Kruk saying my shipment is on the way. WHAT?!? Apparently I bought a card from them on ebay without noticing! However, it was a good deal. They had a BCCG 9 '79 Ozzie Smith for 60% off so it ended up being $24. From looking at the card, if it transfers to a PSA 8, I'll have done great! If it just gets a 7, it's still a little cheaper than most 7's go for. We'll see how this goes...

take your cue from the description on a BCCG 9 - it says 'Near Mint or Better'.

Have you ever thought of diversifying into comedy as well as cards?

Yeah, I'm aware of BCCGs "grading". I'm just hoping it's not trimmed! Thanks.
Yikes.
