Thoughts on GAI 1955 Bowman Packs?

I'd love to go for one of these but with GAI on the slab I'm reaching for my 10 foot pole. Anyone with a better eye than me tell from the scan if these could be legit?

  • probstein is a great seller and i wouldn't question authenticity of any of the auctions.

It's not so much Probstein I am worried about but the GAI label!
  • I feel like with GAI holders you have a 50/50 shot. Probstein is second to none IMO. I would love those packs too!

  • Are these the packs from the Mr. Mint find ? Tennessee ?
If so, then they should be good.

I always get scared of packs when the original owner uses someone else to sell them. And then its graded by GAI . GAI is enough for me.

GAI has had their share of issues with bad packs (resealed '58 cellos, the phony grocery cellos from 1970-1972 they graded several years ago before realizing they were resealed), but the majority of packs in the first generation holders are authentic if you know what to look for and who you're buying from..

looks like the latest generation of GA holder, and judging by the lack of water damage and other factors I doubt this is from the Paris, Tenn find.

Always looking for Topps Salesman Samples, pre '51 unopened packs, E90-2, E91a, N690 Kalamazoo Bats, and T204 Square Frame Ramly's

  • I threw in a bid and won the GAI 7 - we'll see how it looks in person. I hope I didn't just set $700 on fire.

You basically bought a lottery ticket. Good luck!

Seeing the newest GAI flip the question I would be concerned with - Is Mike Baker the consginer, and some GAI customer from Tuscaloosa Alabama still waiting for his 1955 Bowman Wax packs to come back to him through the mail, that apparently aren't coming back!?!?!?!?!?!
