Anyone know what "SLC" on 14 KT Jewelry stands for?

I'm looking at the marking of a piece of white gold jewelry and it's stamped "14 KT SLC" which I'm sure isn't Salt Lake City image

Doesn't appear to be an industry-wide abreviation. I would think it's related to the assayer, manufacturer or designer.

Single Layer Coated with 14K gold? Did a google search for SLC and didn't find anything related to gold jewelry. Like Tom said, probably a makers mark.

Sounds like something I'd test with nitric acid after cutting a corner or edge with a jeweler's file to breadk through any heavy gold plating.
