MLB - Pujols 4 Hits and 2 HR Albert Pujols had 4 hits and smacked a pair of homers in Thursday's game at the Brewers... it is the 7th time in his career he's had a 4-hit, 2-homer game. Just as suspicious as the other guys.
Go into your cupboard, grab the salt shaker, take a grain out, and then throw it on the back of his card.
If you aren't willing to do that, then you guys are boasting about the wrong player from ALbert's era.
THere is a player from 2000-2007 that had the following:
.322 AVG, .517 OB%, .724 SLG%, and a 221 OPS+
During that time, this player set the ALL TIME MLB single season SLG% record with a .863 SLG%
He set the ALL TIME MLB single season OPS+ record at 268. And if that wasn't good enoguh he add the second best, and third best all time marks to boot...at 263 and 259.
This guy also set the ALL TIME MLB single season OB% record with a .609 OB%. For good measure, he added the second best all time OB% mark at .582.
He also set the all time OPS record with a 1.427 mark. THen again, for good measure, added the second best mark all time at 1.380
Seems like you gentlemen are boasting about the wrong player
If you don't like hearing that?
Albert, still waiting for the test you boasted about...............
once in a generation baseball player, not a God and not a devil.
Just my 2 cents....
1) People will ALWAYS hate and attack superstars. They have their own agenda and get a thrill out of waiting and watching for ANYTHING to criticize. They expect the superstar to be perfect 100% of the time. They forget that people are ALL imperfect. The only perfect man ever was hung on a cross and murdered. Tells a bit about human nature.
2) To deny Albert Pujols' accomplishments on the field is to make a fool of yourself. The numbers speak for themselves.
3) The man is by all evidence a devoted husband and father, including a special needs child, works tirelessly in St. Louis and in the Dominican for charities, promotes God at every opportunity publicly.
4) The Cardinals just swept the Brewers and Pujols lit them up. Doesn't matter, too little too late.
5) I can't stand Larussa either but in the last 15 years the Cards have won a lot of games, pennants, and a World Series. I think Milwaukee or Houston or Chicago would love to be able to say the same.
Those of you that hate him and the Cards can jeer all you like. We love him here in STL and the Cards usually beat your teams so we understand the animosity As soon as he signs with another team this offseason, we'll yell irrationally too about how he's a jerk. We're fans, that's how it works
<< <i>Funny nobody ever says anything about Derek Jeter's return to greatness after being in the toilet and a 15 day vacation on the disabled list...... >>
Derek Jeter has dated Jessica Biel and Minka Kelly... those two accomplishments are far greater than anything he's ever done on the field.

Great post. He is a baseball player. Period. I think I agree with everything you said except the last thing. I understand that baseball is a business, and even though I am a Cardinals fan first and would love for him to stay in St Louis, I will still follow what he does and watch him play when I get the chance. If he leaves, hats off to him. It was fun while it lasted. If he stays, great.
Who is denying Pujols's accomplishments on the field?
THey are simply being put into context, with he being part of the live ball and roid era.
You guys are hailing him as a God on the field, however, there is a guy whom he played against that was incredibly better...and not even close.
Here are three guys in career WAR from the live ball era...
Bonds 171 Arod 105 Pujols 88
Obiously, it isn't over yet. Well, compared to Bonds it is already Game, Set, and Match in Bonds's favor.
I wouldn't compare Pujols's WAR to players who didn't have the luxury to play in a live ball era...but Arod and Bonds did. And actually, Bonds had several years outside the live ball era.
So he is already a distant second from this era. Considering Arod's ability to play SS(despite his current team choosing not to play him there for reasons outside his ability to handle the spot), his value gets more of a bump because he is being labled as a 3B the last several years.
So your guy ALbert still has a hill to climb to surpass Arod as well. Who knows how it may all shake out, and Pujols may still be a couple years older than his listed age.
Very good chance he ends up being no better than third from his own era. For the guys who keep claiming top five of ALL TIME, LOL, LOL, LOL. THat is a good one.
<< <i>If he gets a few more years in, he'll go down as a top 5 player... >>
A few more years in? He runs like his 38 year old hips are already failing. Maybe he'll sign with an AL team and be their DH...as opposed to being the DH that plays 1B for the Cards.
LOL. You guys crack me up. First he's on roids (he hasn't tested positive for them in 11 seasons so show proof or shut up) ...then his stats don't really count because of the live ball era (if so then your girlfriends Bonds and A-Dud don't count by a longshot) ...and now he's lying about his age...first, again, prove it- second, tell us why he'd even bother (LMAO)- and third, tell us why that matters anyway...with his performance, I don't care if he's 31, 38 or 48. Despite being out a few games with a fractured wrist early on, he's still leading the league in HR last time I checked...and a quick check shows a .295/.367/.549 line this year(so far)...despite opposing pitchers throwing him garbage and his leading the league among active players in intentional walks... and that's his WORST season? There are plenty of guys who would kill for a "bad season" like that this year.
