I went to BJ's in Johnston to get water and batteries; there weren't many people there, and they still had plenty of stock, but the people that were there were getting ready for the end of the world.
Me the wife and my daughter were supposed to go to the Ocean in Rhode Island this weekend but I decided it wasn't worth the risk involed.I live in Albany,NY but they we could get 70 MPH winds and possible flooding. We are no where near the ocean.

I am on Long Island-nothing like sticking out into the Atlantic Ocean...I just made sure the BB cards where high of the basement floor...secure your stuff as said earlier.
North Carolina here. Getting prepared for it. I just got in from putting everything from outside to inside so nothing will fly away and damage or hurt some one.
If you are going to get hit just don't wait. Secure your stuff outside, windows, etc. If your near trees and the winds are going to get high, go stay at hotel. It's not worth the risk.
I pray everyone and their personal property/belongings stay safe. The coast is going to get hit really hard. As if we don't have enough issues within our country.
Storms, earthquakes, floods, hurricanes, tornado's, the Gov't. S--t is a little crazy ya think?
Eastern LI...the high wind and trees falling really concern me.

Checking in from NC, although we reside in the center of the state, we have a modest summer place at Atlantic Beach. Just got home from there securing and retrieving what we could, hoping for the best but the track looks pretty bad.
Best of luck to everyone on the East Coast. Lock and load if you are staying put and make sure you are stocked up and ready to be on your own for a week or two if the worst happens.
The flooding is what makes me nervous. Last year we had a really bad Spring, all of a sudden the Rivers crested, ground water came in and we had 8-10 inches of water in the basement.
I am more worried about our cottage on the Connecticut shoreline. We are only about 100 yards from the water and the house is very old. We brought everything inside yesterday so it does not fly around.
Bracing here in NJ. First an earthquake and now this.
"My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. Our childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When we were insolent we were placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds - pretty standard really."
NC here. If something happens to me, please pm me and I'll give you my cell number. For those that have cards subbed with me, I can give my cell if you want to check to make sure I am alive.
In Maryland on vacation and having to leave tonight instead of tomorrow. Earthquakes and hurricanes. Could have just stayed home in CA for the earthquake part.
To stay on topic. It is starting to rain and is slightly windy where I live. I won't be seeing the eye of Irene but I am starting to see the edge of hurricane now. I am sure conditions will get worse from here on. Stay safe everyone.

Good luck to all those in it's path. If you have time to evacuate, do it, bravado means nothing when you are six feet under. I've watched hurricanes pound Texas a couple times, and while we probably have more than our fair share of bravado in Texas, most people in the affected areas do heed the warnings and live to enjoy the water another day.

See, the chance that it happens is so remote. But I am going to go say that it happen to be in a water proof container.

Hell we lose power here if it gets too cloudy...I expect to lose it sometimes.
Should have sustained winds of 60MPH here. Expecting lots of trees/limbs to be crashing all around.
