    I'd say most modern stuff is dead right now. Kennedy's and Ikes especially.

    My vote would be for the Presidential base metal dollar series. When the Proofs in the mint holders are worth little more than face value, that's about as cold as you can get.

    The SBA dollars are not winners either.
    Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

    Stellas don't have many collectors only because most of us cannot afford them. With prices escalating, I would have to say they are a wanted item. SBA dollars by comparison are definitely unpopular. For under $50 one could assemble a complete set, of both proof and circulation strikes, and yet few people do. The Presidentials at least show up in change on rare occasions. SBA dollars are pretty dead.

    Maybe some cheap 20th century torkens have little following, but if you are talking about the 19th century stuff, including Hardtimes and Civil War tokens you are way off. In fact if you had bought these tokens back in the 1990s and early 2000, your return on investment would have out paced many coins.
