Glad that you guys liked the site. It's a real gem. I've been a customer for over 12 years.
The key is to stay very well stocked but to rotate stuff. That why, after the initial investment, you just use the old and buy the new.
Also, as to Rx and non-Rx drugs, also a must to have a nice stash. Google the military studies on expiration dates. Many are good for many years. (Some are very much not, great details online).
Don't forget tooth paste and the other necessities. Stock up and rotate.
You can go through $2k in a flash on this stuff as you've found.
I think that the Heirloom seeds are fantastic.
The various pre-made bug-out bags are great. They need some supplementation but not much.
Gotta catch some z's for a very long day of cross-country travel tomorrow.
"Once you hit 10 percent inflation, 10-year Treasury bonds lose almost half of their value.
And by 20 percent any value is all but gone.
Interest rates have to be dramatically hiked up at this point, which causes real estate values to further collapse.
And the stock market will plummet as a consequence of these other problems.
So after 10, 20, even 30 percent inflation, the vast amount of damage has been done. "
" Foreign investors will begin to significantly lose confidence in their U.S. holdings sometime during, or shortly after, 2013.
China is already beginning to worry.
But this will get much, much worse when we hit 10 percent inflation.
And, by 2016 a mass exodus of foreign investment could very well occur in the United States.
And, whether we like it or not, we need foreign investment in our stock and bond markets to keep them strong. "
"Right now we collect about $2 trillion a year in taxes.
But nowadays, Washington is spending almost $3.5 trillion.
That means more than four out of every $10 the government spends comes from borrowed money.
And, government debt is mostly short term in nature.
About 36 percent of it is in loans that last under a year.
So Washington has to constantly roll this debt into new loans at the new interest rates. "
"So when interest rates climb to 10 percent ,
We would have a hard time just paying the interest!
So they will start with small raises in a futile attempt to curb inflation.
But at the same time they will print more money to help keep from drowning as the interest rates hike the annual deficit. "
"So modest interest rate hikes are coming in the near future.
It won't stop the inflation.
But, still Washington will exhaust all other possible options because they know that aggressive interest rates will crush real estate, stocks, and bonds.
And, it will pop the bubbles they've inflated through reckless economic policies.
So instead of acting now, they'll wait until there is no choice and the devastation is unfolding before they make the uncomfortable and unpopular decision to dramatically spike the rates. "
Hey Groiny why don't you take your pulled out of your butt statistics and go post them on the Glen Beck Forum with the other crazies and keep your methodical drivel off of our coin forum. Thinking you are smarter than everybody else just goes to show people why you shouldn't be paid attention to, go back under the rock/alt you came from.
I don't expect anything drastic to happen from our own govt. I think the nucear threat should always be in the back of our minds. The sun thing is always a possibility too. The govt' will do what Europe is doing. They'll give and give until they realize they did too much and push back. Americans themselves usually push back at election time.
I like the idea of preparation for a natural disaster. Never hurts to have clean water on hand and supplies of food. Like I said earlier, we had no power for six days back in 2009 and were completely unprepared so we were pretty much eating out every day for several days. That got expensive. I live almost on top of the New madrid fault line. If this fault line ever decides to have a big one again there will be very bad damage and we'll pretty much be out of running/clean water for several days. For me it would be nice to have enough flash lights, bottled water and home canned produce on hand in case we have a period of no running water or electricity. I don't want to be one of those people standing around a national guard truck and fighting hunreds of other people for bottled water.
Heck, an ice storm is capable of knocking out power for several days. This happened to my brother in Western KY back in 2006-07 and they had no power for around 10 days. They pretty much had to pack up and move in with my parents 70 miles to the north because of no power and a cold house.
Hopefully yesterday is a wakeup call to easterners and pols in DC that anything bad can happen at any time.
Buy on the dips Groiny and you'll do as well as one can do in this rigged system of printing trillions of dollars to keep the markets and banks from collapsing. The game will end badly soon. Those that haven't seen the slow moving train wreck for the last 10 year will never get it. I love the classic gold coins. We're in a phase there will be huge swings in price and this one will be short lived. We were nuts at 300, 500, 800, 1000, and so on nothing changed.
Until a solution to our issues are addressed it's only going to get worse and it's about 10 fold worse since gold rang the warning bell in 2002. There will be time to sell but this isn't it, acquire on the dips and go to the PM forum.
Seems you've been a "Rip Van Winkle" and have finally woke up. A big global reset is about to occur IMO, not the end of the world but just like Europe in the 20th century lost it's swaggered to the USA's industrial age Asia is about to take the realm in the 21st century thanks to us getting rid of all those pesky jobs for cheap labor and goods.
The great thing about this play is the people believing the end of the world is upon us in 2012, that's a first rate recipe to make a lot of money until then if we weren't having global issues. Commodities are going though the roof this century since several billion people are competing for them and can now afford them.
Leave those "tin foil" people that "See no evil", "hear no evil", and "speak no evil" where they are. They can whine about how unfair life is in the future. Most of them would never go without house or car insurance but buy gold as insurance for a global financial disaster is beyond them. Buy the Classic and you have a nice collection and insurance you can enjoy all at the same time. What a deal.

"I do believe we have some very tough times ahead for our country.
And, most in Washington are refusing to address the true scope of the situation.
And, millions of Americans will face some difficult hills to climb to avoid getting caught up in this economic disaster I see unfolding.
There is no getting around that. We are past the point of no return.
And, people are starting to realize this.
CNN released a poll a little while ago that stated 48 percent of Americans see our country headed into a second Great Depression in a year or two. "
"In 2008 , a real estate and Wall Street collapse dried up the easy money, and this led to a massive correction in consumer spending.
This is a big deal.
Many people don't understand that about 70 percent of the U.S. economy is built on consumer spending.
And, we all know what happened next.
$16.4 trillion in household wealth disappeared.
These losses were felt in our investment portfolios, retirement savings, real estate holdings, and salaries. "

The Fed has done everything it can to give Americans the appearance of a recovery.
It bailed out its friends at the banks and automotive companies.
It has kept interest rates at historic lows.
And, it turned on the printing presses and drastically grew the monetary supply by 300 percent.
And, all this has done is delay the inevitable. "
your not buying gold for an investment ; your buying it to use for barter so you and your family don't starve to death -
............the whole world is scared and thats why everyone and their brother is buying gold .
Buy it now , whatever the cost .......before it's too late
Much of it is sitting in excess reserves at the Fed and with the big banks.
These funds haven't made it into the markets and the economy yet.
But it's a mathematical certainty that once this dam breaks, and this money passes through the reserves and hits the markets . . .
Inflation will surge. "
"But I'll just say that by the end of 2012, we will likely start to see the first signs of aggressive inflation.
I'm talking about 10 percent, using the Fed's calculations, which we all know are drastically underestimated.
And from 2013 through 2016, it's going to get much worse.
We definitely will NOT see hyperinflation.
Hyperinflation is 50 percent a month, or thousands of percent a year.
We aren't Zimbabwe.
And don't listen to any economist who says it'll get that bad for us.
But we absolutely could see 100 percent annual inflation for a three-year consecutive stretch.
Which of course would be a complete disaster for those who are not prepared.
And by 20 percent any value is all but gone.
Interest rates have to be dramatically hiked up at this point, which causes real estate values to further collapse.
And the stock market will plummet as a consequence of these other problems.

So instead of acting now, they'll wait until there is no choice and the devastation is unfolding before they make the uncomfortable and unpopular decision to dramatically spike the rates. "

BTW: Calm down lol

Agree. I've seen more and more threads here that belong on the Precious Metals forum. Perhaps not everyone knows that there is a PM forum.

European banks are slashing jobs this year six times faster than their U.S. peers, according to data compiled by Bloomberg, as concerns about the creditworthiness of Italy, Spain and France roil financial markets and reduce income from fixed- income trading, stock and bond underwriting as well as mergers and acquisitions. Financial firms are also cutting costs as regulators force banks to hold more and better quality capital to withstand future shocks.
“It’s a bloodbath, and I expect things to get worse before they get better,” said Jonathan Evans, chairman of executive- search firm Sammons Associates in London. “I cannot see a lot of those who have lost their jobs getting re-employed. Regardless of how good someone is, no one wants to talk about hiring. Life will be very difficult for two or three years.”

"U.S. home prices fell 5.9 percent in the second quarter from a year earlier, the biggest drop since 2009, as foreclosures added to the inventory of properties for sale, according to the Federal Housing Finance Agency. "

Ah, come on guys. It's like two, two. two threads in one. I like the convenience. Anyway, I remember when gold was near $250 and many advisors said to stay away and not buy. Go figure. That is why I usually don't take that kind of advise so I can only blame myself for bad decisions.
