Venezuela Formally Requests Gold Holdings Held By BOE Ship By Sea

Wall St. is probably assembling a crew/team of somalians to intercept. I'm going with 50/50 odds the gold never makes it home.

I guess JPM is next, probably scrambling since they loaned it all out at 100:1. I suspect those that borrowed from JPM now want the real stuff on fears that Venezuela will get it first. Price could go very crazy shortly. Chickens are coming home to roost! I've got real eggs in my basket, not "promised" eggs.

Gonna need more than that Walther. image

The TV show "Sons of Guns" made a rocket launcher for a private security company to mount on container ships to shoot at and warn off pirates. They were just noise makers, but I bet they'll have quite a bit more on this particular ship than just noise makers.

Good ol' Hugo will put this gold to good use...like trade it for more Russian weapons in order to make sure "his people" stay subservient to him.

It's amazing in this day & age that people in some countries still want to keep dictators running and destroying their country. Oh yea I almost forgot, in America we have.....

  • I give it a 90% chance of never getting to Venezuela. I think the gold will never even be loaded onto a ship that will be 'sunk' with all hands lost.

according to a paper in Costa Rica, Chavez does want it flown in, not floated.

doesn't the "seller" have the say in delivery method though? Chavez can request a different delivery transportation vehicle but that may negate some protocols?

Methinks we're talking nuke submarine with a few of surface escorts and a battleship with "shoot first, ask questions later" type of rules of engagement. So, how's a private company, going to get the US Navy to provide the same type of escort? JPM ain't no BOE.

Depends on when receiver takes official possession. If not until arrival, I guess sender gets to choose method. If I wanted to steal it in transit, I'd send by sea. When France took possession of their gold in the 70s, they showed up with a French battleship in New York harbor.

  • Seems like a smart move by Chavez to be honest. I wouldn't be surprised if some others start demanding their physical... and if this boat never arrives or the rest cannot be delivered let the conspiracy theories begin.

That's gonna be some newsmaker when it travels. Doubt it'll be much of a secret. I'm sure every man woman and child in somalia is readying their long distance boats for the several week trip.

Someone asked recently about factors that would increase/decrease the current POG. Aside from the consideration for taking delivery, I'm sure if the boat went to the bottom of the sea that would give one heck of a fear uptick.

I couldn't come up with a better scenario for a world class navy to conduct a training exercise en masse.

Then we could get started pedigree'ing all the bars and doing some restoration work on them.

it's gonna be insured. and they wouldn't set sail just on one or two or even six for that reason.

If I were Chavez I'd be more worried about that "world class navy" than I would be about the Somalians. I personally think, he'll be taken down before he sees his gold. I wonder if the escalation in Tripoli had anything to do with helping JPM come up with the gold that Venezuela "had" on deposit.

While I don't agree with the man, I do respect anyone that is not afraid to publicly give Washington a big middle finger.

  • I am very doubtful that much physical gold can be rounded up . And, it may cause a "run on the vaults" so to speak
where other countries , billionares, etc. may want to get their physical as well. In which case, the whole world will be exposed to the
great lie when it comes to the amount of gold bars on paper, to the amount of physical gold bars available .

Maybe Chavez knows the gold will never be delivered and set up a deal to transfer the $11 Billion to his private account. It will be a show. Load up the gold(tungsten/lead) on a ship and have it sink at the deepest part of the ocean. All evidence gone perhaps. JPM would get its money back since it would be insured. The insurance company would get scr**ed. Probably AIG and the american taxpayers would bail them out again.
