Got my 1875!! Done with my 3CN Proofs!!

dpooledpoole Posts: 5,940 ✭✭✭✭✭
Despite Shiro's evil scemes to thwart me, I have acquired my 1875 PCGS Three Cent Nickel Proof 66, after a two-year search!

Here it is!

I have finished my Three Cent Nickel proof set, and will make it into the top all-time five.

I will now die a happy man, or maybe take up macrame...

Congrats! Stick with the coins, even a moderate owl collection can be daunting.

    Tad,

Not sure what scares me more. That you knew what kind of hobby macrame was or that you were able to find a website that fast.

    Tad,

That stuff is all over my grandparents' house and I didn't know that's what macrame was. Figured it involved dried macaroni shells and glue. image

    Tad,

Is that in the macrame Registry? Looks like stiff competition. Maybe I'll just go back to navel lint collecting...

Wow, dpoole. I am totally, completely impressed.

BTW, I collect owls, too- would you believe it? (and promise not to ROFL?) I inherited my grandmother's collection and just kinda kept adding on to it every once in a while. (I was mortally terrified of owls as a child, but it grew into respect and fascination as I got older).

I have glass, metal, wood, porcelain, plastic, rubber, resin, and cloth owls, owls on plates, owls on stamps, and owls on coins (unfortunately none of the ancient Athenian ones...yet). Stuffed owls (cutesie ones, not taxidermy), owl figurines, owl bookends, and even a Beanie owl (no barfing noises, please). No macrame owls, though. I think I'll skip those. I keep my owls on a curio shelf, rather than hang 'em on the wall (though there is a big set of owl plates on the wall).

Owl collecting will not overtake coin collecting, but I often get owls from my wife and relatives, 'cause they say they don't know enough to buy coins for me.

(Geez- who sent me off on that tangent? I come in here with hypnotic visions of lovely proof 3c pieces, and end up driveling on about owls!)

    Spooly,

My sister just finished med school and is training for anesthesiology. I'll get you some pills so that the next time you see Dpoole, you can drug him before a major auction.

    Tad,

You win, LM has you beat on the scary factor now.

Drats! Thwarted again. I thought you needed a PQ 1865 proof and needlessly bought 5 of them to corner the market! image

Ah the joy of a great and difficult find. In my experience I've found a go through a post-rush doldrums when I find a hard-to-find coin I needed for a set, but when I find a coin I both really wanted and needed for a set I am happy for quite a while afterward. image Congrats!
