Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
You have two grand and the ability to buy a lot of cards for that kind of dough....your sets are not matched and I hope that there is a nicer PSA 9 that your collection will add in the future. Patience and it could come your way. You have many Pop 1s and by far the best cards from this set.

PS- This will bring attention to all the PSA 10s that you have.... you are a winner Dpeck!!!!!!!!

Wow. I know this card is tough to find with sharp corners since it's the top card in the bag.... But the centering is far from perfect on this. One of those examples of the flip selling for more than the card IMO
I wouldn't throw in the towel just yet, David. I've seen this situation several times before. You'll probably get a second chance offer from the seller in a few days because "the winner decided not to pay". I hope I'm wrong.
Probably never see another guy like Andre as a wrestler...very unique.

Anyone have any experience with this seller of the Andre?
Buyer bought four items in the amount of $316 for 1970 topps football checklist, $3257 for 1972 Puerto Rican Mike Schmidt Rookie, and $3550 for Abdul Jabbar Chamberlain PSA 10 from the seller in the last couple of days...... very little history elsewhere.

Don't worry Dpeck. A better PSA 9 will pop. People will see that $2104 and start subbing that card trying to get a 9 or even better a 10! Usually when there are more then 1 the price drops slightly. If a 10 pops and then a couple nines the person who bought that card won't get their $ back if they ever resell. If you weren't happy with the centering then that card wasn't worth it. Buy the card not the grade or holder its in right?

I don't think a low feedback means on a member means anything. The person who bought my 1953 Mantle PSA 8 (OC) just paid $2,400 and had a feedback of exactly 44. And was cordial enough to do the deal off Ebay. Now, if the feedback were under 10....
Sorry to see you didn't pick this up David, it could be worse, I lost out on a PSA 8.5 Yastrzemski RC earlier in the week that sold for 20% under my snipe (that didn't go off). Here's to finding another Andre!
I still have this one. I had two and cracked one out that looked amazing.
The reason the Andre card is so difficult is for three reasons. Obviously with it being the first card in the cellophane wrapped block it has tremendous pressure on the corners. The second reason is all three of the Yellow cards including the Hulk Hogan and Mil Mascaras are extremely off centered top to bottom and some times side to side. The final reason is the hair on the Andre card. I found the original photo that was used from a program and you will see exactly what I am talking about.
The example above that I cracked out has razor sharp corners, very strong centering, but the hair is an issue. What held the card back the most was a surface issue that is on the card that is to the left of his name. It is like a small line that is dinged in the card. I really don't know the card word to decribe it but when I did my final review before sending it off I caught it and was totally bummed. This is the nicest PSA 7 Andre you could ever find.
Here is the Andre photo and the photo used for the Hulk Hogan rookie. I thought this was such a neat item as it captured both of their card images on one program. One of the things that made me so interested in the cards was that the publisher of the cards simply used photos from his magazine and then cropped them into head shots.
I am contemplating cracking the BGS 9 from the top out and giving it a try. The obvious delimma is that if it does not come back a PSA 9 I have lost money. I tried to cross it over but it seems you have a better shot of crossing items when you crack them out and give PSA a fresh look.
I would apprectiate any comments on the first Andre above.
I would exhibit some patience before ever cracking out your Andre...it would be worth sending in for a review.
Your magazine with the images would look pretty cool signed by Hogan. Ever think of getting that signed?
BUYING Frank Gotch T229 Kopec Looking to BUY n332 1889 SF Hess cards and high grade cards from 19th century especially. "Once you have wrestled everything else in life is easy" Dan Gable
Your bgs 9 has way better eye appeal than the psa 9 that just sold on ebay imo. If that got a 8.5 for centerig then the psa one would get a 7 on centering. To me the left to right centering is more important than top to bottom.
Yes I have considered it but thought it would be better to get the cards signed first. I have 9 cards sitting out in San Diego waiting for the Hogan signing at the end of the month. I cracked out four BGS graded Hogan's with three being BGS 9's. I thought a super strong example of the Hogan rookie signed could fetch some serious cash.
I'd crack and resub both until they came back 9 and 8. BTW, besides the $ factor, I'd rather have your 7 than the 9 that just sold and it's not even close.

Yes, have done many deals in the past with PWCC and he is top notch. He is one of the top sellers on eBay (if not the best) that still runs regular auctions. I received a card from him once that had a small wrinkle not mentioned in the description (it was a PSA 4). The seller allowed me to return the card and gave a full refund. He often has many top notch auctions available, but few (if any) of the items are actually his cards (most are consigned).
I noticed Patrick's educated guess as well, good call

Awesome, there is no way that the Andre is a $2100 card now in my opinion, or if it is then at least the leverage is less for the one.... good news. Hope DPeck gets it.

I was bidding to win and I am glad I did not. I don't think the Andre will sell for as much as the first but I could be wrong. The natural demand ended at $1800 on the first auction and I think most bidding were thinking it would stay a Pop 1.
The winner only intended to try and flip it for a profit.
An Andre The Giant in mint condition is an extremely rare card so I suspect if the second one gets listed it will do well too. I certainly will go after it but not going as high as I did on the first one.
Hopefully this PSA 9 Andre will be better than the first one, it seemed to me that the Andre was a PSA 9 in flip only as some 8's seemed better than that one. Hope this latest one is a true PSA 9.

I now see what you mean. A terrible title indeed. I bet 25% or less of the buyers looking for Wrestling All Stars saw that auction. It is back up with the same terrible title.

If you are going for it, I hope you get it! I can't think of a more deserving home for this card then yours.
Good luck!!

Bummer, man. I've been there.
Just tell yourself the next PSA 9 will be better looking, cheaper, and it will be yours.
My target price was $2,000. Bid slightly higher just in case.
I lost.

I was always concerned even before this surfaced that it would go nuts and end up in the hands of a rare rookie card collector.
This had everything but the centering.
There are not many more of these in strong condition.
When I went nuts on the Ric Flair the sub party began. Many said there would be a truck load of sealed sets surface. They don't exist.
Time will tell about more surfacing but trust me the high prices from a year ago made it clear these were worth subbing.

That's odd. I thought wrinkles were acceptable for PSA 4's. Without the wrinkle, I am sure the card would have graded higher.
Let's hope that one finds it way to EBAY.
<< <i>Patrick you were very close. Nice call! >>
Dave I can't help wonder what the final price would've been if you'd have 'bid to win'???
I noticed a stack (maybe 20 or so) of these wrestling cards at a flea market a few weeks ago, sadly they were all well chewed.

The other one that needs to surface is the Crusher. That card is crazy tough as it came on the back of many of the sealed sets.
There is one PSA 9 and it must be in a private collection.
