FINAL $2104!!! Andre the Giant Wrestling All Stars PSA 9 finally hits ebay POP 1!!!

Will be fun to watch this one go....centering issues and being the top card in the sealed pack lead to various issues with the card. I suspect we will never see a PSA 10.

I think this price will be a good indicator and viability for all the cards in the set, so this is great since you have so many of the other cards...........

The Andre card is fairly unique as he is one of the mega stars where a non wrestling card collector has interest. I do agree though that a very high selling price on a Pop 1 is a good thing for my cards in general.

I think a few of my Pop 1 PSA 10's like Dusty Rhodes, Junkyard Dog, Bruno Sammartino and a few others could have strong results but obviously I am keeping them so it is sort of irelavent.

I have 42 Pop 1's and then 7 more that are Pop 2's that I own both and one Pop 3 that I own all of.

Obviosuly a Ken Lucas PSA 10 is a rare card and certainly very cool but it is miles apart from an Andre or Hogan.

I do not think a PSA 10 Hogan will ever surface but if so it will blow people's minds what it would sell for.

  • Dpeck100Dpeck100 Posts: 10,912 ✭✭✭✭✭
You can count better then I. LOL

A year or so ago when we started talking about these cards in great detail many speculated there was some truck load of sealed sets. They are not out there. Ask yourself one question, why are they not hitting EBAY? The word is out and people realize these have sold for decent money on EBAY and they would be getting them to market as quick as possible.

The Population figures has slowed tremendously as very few cards are being submitted currently as so many of the existing strong cards have made their way into slabs from all grading companies.

Yes I saw a few. A Hogan and Andre SGC 5 equivalent. They did not do to bad. The cards actually looked great in the holders but I just don't collect SGC.

There have been a few others pop up in KSA and some other low end brand.

75/25 for t/b centering. According to the grading standards, this should be a PSA 9 OC or a straight PSA 7.

But that red and white PSA label is worth a whole heck of a lot of money.

I will post a few scans of PSA 9OC cards.

This one is very close. I think the reason it is in a PSA 9 is overall eye appeal. The surface around Andre's hair is very strong in this example.

If this was in a BGS 9 holder, perhaps its flaws would be more evident.

Very nice....hardly a 9 though. But I guess the BGS 9 is just as bad. I guess the corners are the main attraction (on both cards).

I finally found my wrestling set today and since I have not figured out how to look at a card and figure out its probable grade, what do you think of this Andre?

    imageimage

I had a terrible time getting it to scan right and hope I didn't mess up the croppibng too bad. Are there any other cards in the set that are particularly hard to get in good shape? I assume centering is the main problem in the grading of the cards in this set. Thank-youfor your help.

There are tons of cards in the sets that are crazy tuff. Your Andre is either a PSA 5 or 6 with those corners.

At least 70% or more of the Andre cards are a PSA 5 or lower. Perhaps more.

  • MacrosBMacrosB Posts: 525 ✭✭✭
Thanks, I was guessing as much. There were several in the set that had more corner wear than the others.

The Andre card was the top card in the sealed brick. It is the Andy Pafko of the 52 Topps and he happens to be one of the biggest long term stars in Wrestling.

There are certain cards based on the color of the background that are harder then others. All of the Yelow cards are crazy tough top to bottom and the same with the Orange. The Purple cards show any touch of wear.

There is a reason why top grade cards from the 82A can go for big money as they are the top stars ever and super condition sensitive.

Love that you are a Cardinal fan by the way....will send you a PM. I'd like to get a few singles for autographing purposes if you are looking to sell if they are below grading quality. I'm mostly looking for cards that are in PSA 6 to 8 range.

I vote for a lot of late action, like in the last minute. Every premium listing seems to be going that way lately.
