If I were doing it on my own I would just use excel, I'd want to know the grade, how much I paid, potentially worth although it would be a lot of effort, and how much I sold it for.
Not really looking for much these days but if I were, it might be a toner.
and I had to reenter all my data. I keep all my paper receipts just for such sanfu's. At this point I'm gun shy when it comes to upgrading to a newer version.
Datz why I'm still using 2006.

The name is LEE!
I use a "Moleskin" lined notebook.
Welcome!
Your link is a MS PowerPoint slide show that depicts an MS Excel spreadsheet. It looks to be a pretty good one for coins. Most folks go the Excel Spreadsheet or least expensive route to document their collection. I use Collector's Assistant software from Carlisle Development Corp. Much more expensive manner of monitoring and recording your collection than a spreadsheet, but I like it.
Cheers!
