Official Group Pack Grading, Closed... We have Poppage!!! Page 6!!

First off, let's get this thing going already huh??? Sorry I have been straight out with my wife, kids, in laws, family, church, work, cards, etc , etc.......

So we have gottena great price on a Group Pack Grading submission. I just got back an email from PSA a little after 8pm. I just wanted to confrim everything in hopes we can get this done in a speedy fashion. Here is the response I recieved when I asked about the best way to send the packs in.

PSA Customer Service via collectors.com to me
show details 8:19 PM (1 hour ago)

Dear Mr. Kelley, The quantity discount applies only to a single bulk order—if you break it up into smaller orders, you will lose the discount. I confirmed with Joe that this policy does apply to your submission as well. To keep track of which packs belong to who, I recommend that you list them on the submission form in sections. (For example, lines 1-10 belong to Bob; lines 11-20 belong to Fred, etc.) It is also helpful if you place stickers on the outside of the pack holders with the line number from the submission form so our receivers enter them in the right order—this is particularly important if the same pack is being submitted by multiple people. I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any further questions or concerns. Sincerely, Laura RosenbergCustomer Service ManagerPSA, PSA/DNA(800) 325-1121 x424www.psacard.com

So what we will do is have everyone send their packs to me. I will go through each order and then creat a master order that will indicate who's packs are who's using the sticker format from the master submission form. I will wrap each memeber packs seperately and most
important gently. Then I will wrap your submission around your packs. The Master submission will show just like in the example from the PSA Customer Service rep.

I would like to get this out in the mail by next week sometime, so all packages need to be received around Monday if at all possible.

Our special price to grade each pack is $10 with a 100 pack minimum. This price is only good for packs from 1972 to present. Wax Packs and Cello's.

You can either send a check or paypal me for your amount. As far as shipping let's not worry about that now. I will post how much it costs to ship it there and back once it's all put together. Then there will be an amount of shipping for me to get it back to you. Using USPS and their boxes will be the easiest way for me, and insurance and delivery confirmation will be used.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Take care,

The packs... I'll try to fix the Excel view it has here on the thread when I copy and paste from the Master Submission form.

Question: how do you normally ship packs securely? For example, we send baseball cards in CS1's and bind them together between two pieces of cardboard (in stacks of 20 or so). I store my cellos in those clam-shell snap cases. Do people normally ship them in those, or is there a different method?

I plan to wrap mine in the thinner bubble wrap, just tight enough to prevent movement. Then thicker bubble wrap around them. I have thought of maybe wrapping each one, one by one. But we all know how they are sent from Steve, I plan to do the same.

I actually like the idea of putting the pack with a toplaoder on the side without gum and into a pack case. Then wrap.

Have a '72 jumbo cello sitting around. Guess it was hiding when I sold most of my collection. I'll see if I can get a couple others together and get them out to you tomorrow. I'll let you know if I find any.

Hey Mike, I'm in for 14 packs altogether.

My only question is whether you want each person fill out a pack submission form when we send our packs to you to help you create the master list.

Thanks to you and Matthew (Artistlost) for getting this thing off the ground. image

Yes I think that will be a good idea for each person to fill one out. I will be labeling with stickers to ensure the packs remain separate.

They could just grade them all a 9? I'll send along a note that Steve said they were all MINT and he doesn't need to inspect them. Should have em back in a couple weeks...I wish.

Hopefully we can get them back at the end of August. That's my guess. I will let Steve know he has a bunch coming his way. I was discussing with someone the other day how many packs he grades a month. My final guess after discussion was around 1,000. I could be way off... Either way he is great to this community with honest grades. I'm siked, especially after seeing Grote's. Those are sweet!

Packages are being sent out, echo and salems just confirmed.

I have a few more packs that I can throw in if we have to. But for now there is still room for others to get in.

Rick Probstein at Probstein123 will have some really high end cards going off for auction in the next couple days, and 4 packs of mine just game back from PSA. My first graded packs that I submitted! I am going to sell them so I have some extra cash at the National. They are from the mid 70's, with names like Garvey Morgan and Bench showing. Definitely some 1/1's that I know of. Especially the 78 OPC with stars on front and back.

Let me know if you have any questions about this submission.

Yes Echo I got your package and am opening now. I also recieved a package from another member, but now sure who. Please PM me if you 5 packs where supposed to arrive today, so I know who you are.

OKay............ Here is the news I have....

I talked with Steve Hart from BBCE, and he going to authenticate for us, if we want all of the packs if I bring them to the National. This is HUGE!!!! I haven't even booked my hotel or flight yet, as I am confirming assistance for my wife and children if I go.

I plan to go, and will be making last minute arrangements over the next few days.

So, if we want, I will either bring the packs with me on board a flight.....should be interesting for a carry on, or have them shipped to Rick Probstein, he doesn't know it yet, but hope he will accept and bring them to the National for us. Steve will authenticate, and give them to PSA who will lock them in their vault or safe and take back to be graded and encased.

    Thoughts?????

Edit: Check the first page out, that is how I will be listing the packs. Also please fill out your own submission form when sending the packs, so I don't have to do that. I will be filling out my own, and then a Master for all of us.

I will update maybe later, or tomorrow morning as I have a splitting headache. Have a great night, and let me know your thoughts on bringing or shipping the packs to the National. This will save us weeks on time!!!

I have one more question for the grading experts here. I finally found my 74 OPC pack but it has a small tear on on the right side as you are looking at the front (And I mean the side of the pack not that the tear is on the right side of the front of the pack). Probably about 1/8 - 1/4 inch. Should I still send this in to be graded or is it not worth it at this point?

Sorry 1 more question. In 1972 which series are cards 319 and 364 in. I can see themon the front of 2 of the packs I am submitting and I like to list the series. The third one looks like it might be an In Action card so I can't tell who it is. Thank-you for your help.

You are probably looking at a PSA 6 if tear is close to 1/4". 74 OPC is a tougher issue for OPC, probably the toughest of all OPC issues in the 70s with the possible exception of 1970, so it may be worth grading anyway, but personally I'd skip that pack.

I have a feeling with all the pack buying and hoarding that goes on we can do another. I am now part of it!

We could probably do a regular pack sub every couple months. Let's get through this one, then plan another in September.

Well, look at the bright side...slabbing your packs in that thick plastic PSA holder will make it that much more difficult to open the pack if you are tempted to! image

Very true. Busting regular card slabs, well let's just say I'm not a pro, and have gotten cut on more than one occasion. Haven't opened too many packed slabs....... Yet!

Updating with everyone's packs. Working on swieton's now.

I have repacked everyone's with labels. Have filled out a seperate submission form for those that didn't, no worries, and have created a Master submission excel spreadsheet. I copied and pasted it on the first page.

We are going to be way over 100, so I closed anyone else for this submission. This is taking a bit of time, but is fun also, and there are some really great packs so far!!!

I am working on a massive order with Steve, and hope to have by the end of the week, so I can add an addtional maybe 30 or more packs. Hoard!!!!

Mailed today. I have a question for you graded pack collectors. How do you store your graded packs? Is there a specific type of box that graded packs (or graded cards even) fit into well? Do you store them vertical or horizontal or does it matter once it is in a graded holder? Thanks for the help.

<< <i>Mailed today. I have a question for you graded pack collectors. How do you store your graded packs? Is there a specific type of box that graded packs (or graded cards even) fit into well? Do you store them vertical or horizontal or does it matter once it is in a graded holder? Thanks for the help.

the holders are grooved so they fit on top of each other so I stack mine horizontal in empty 500 to 1000 count envelope boxes my wife brings home from work for me. John

Very creative way to recycle those envelope boxes. I just have mine stacked in a spare dresser drawer.
