fractional Eagles vs fractional Maples

Just curious...do you think it matters? I'm not a big fan of the premiums on the fractionals (1/10), but there is something cool about having a tube of 1/10s. I've done a gold one (took awhile!) and it occured to me, how about platinum...don't have any yet and maybe I should. I suppose I could go for a one ouncer...but I'm just debating a tad. How much of this is for diversification? How much of this is for that little corner of the brain that lives in SHTF-land? (well SHTF short of when bullets are the commodity of choice).
Edited...I guess I put the description in twice...how redundant.
Anyway, the point, other than premium differential is also that if (here comes the paranoid streak) somehow the Eagles became subject to government recall (doesn't that sound nice?) would the Maples be exempt.

Eagles all the way, unless you live in Canada.
If SHTF, I would surmise that gold in any form will be more fungible than Platinum in any form. As a precious metals diversifier though, I think Platinum is a great 3rd leg on the stool.
I knew it would happen.

Agree. They are both quality PM products from a trusted souce.

I think the fractionals will be good to hold for the long haul, especially if gold skyrockets into new territory. That way the possible 1099 thing won't bite you when it comes to sell. Anything over 1/4 oz will be possibly subject if gold goes up to $2400/oz.
You're always able to get a premium for fractionals, so the premium you pay now might be smaller than in the future.
Too many positive BST transactions with too many members to list.

But both are more than fine!
I was thinking platinum as I don't have but a tiny bit relative to the rest of the stash, and I was thinking fractional (1/10) as a way to have small, dividable amounts to sell someday if need be (or to give to grandchildren at Christmas instead of savings bonds) and a way to just do something different.
I have an empty US Mint tube made for the 1/10 Eagles sitting on my nightstand and saying 'feed me some coins'. In one of my more random thoughts I also figured they would be less recognizable as a valuable by any unsavory elements who happened to be walking by my talking nightstand. I had fun filling a tube with the gold 1/10s--over the years it always gave my husband a gift idea and prevented me getting a lot of unwanted jewelry and appliances. I am a good wife. I buy him bicycle parts.
I was planning on the Eagles all the way until I noticed the huge premium differential on the Maples vs. Eagles at apmex when both were in stock (it was 212 vs 232 or something, both high but Eagles much higher). Now Ampex only has eagles at 232, Kitco has the eagles at 192 (but was blaring about the mail interruptions and payment issues) but doesn't have the 1/10 maples, golddealer only sells the eagle version but is out of stock (but had good premiums vs. apmex when they were there), and tulving is out of the question. At this point I see more sellers of Eagles, the Maples were at apmex but their premiums though better on the Maples were still high compared to everyone else. Hmm.
Anyone ever bought from Kitco and is the mail strike in Canada resolved?
