Frank Gotch is the man! There is plenty to read about him everywhere and his story is simply amazing. He is the godfather of pro wrestling!

    EDIT:
Yeah right, Gotch refused to meet Lemm and sailed for America. Talk about a national bias for the text on this card!!!

Is this the card that is considered his rookie?

It is his rookie but it is by far his cheapest card. His American Caramel boxing card and his Pet Mouthpiece Cigarette cards are exponentially tougher to find. The Ogden's is what I would say is relatively "common" and the others you are lucky to see it more than once a year on ebay. I have never see a Kopec back of the Pet Mouthpiece Cigarettes card although they exist. That would be the number one card on my wrestling list right now.

Board member Reggie Cleveland stated something similar. The most valuable cards of boxers and wrestlers are not always the rookie cards.

Interesting to see you confirm this for Gotch King.

With wrestling, boxing ect... There are some super scarce sets that you can wait years before seeing it for sale. Typically the "rookie" cards are from more popular sets that are not nearly as scarce. The 22 champions jack Dempsey is widely considered his rookie but it is nowhere close to his most expensive card. The tricky thing as a rookie card collector of these kind of cards is the new issues are always surfacing. I thought I crossed off joe Frazier a long time ago when I got his 67 panini card.... But now it appears he has a card from 64

If you look at my SF Hess cards they are much rarer than the Allen and Ginters from 1887. I have yet to see many of the SF Hess wrestler cards and looking at the pop report you can see how amazingly rare these cards are. I doubt any collector would ever be able to put together a complete set of them despite there just being over 100 cards total to find.

I picked up a PSA graded n43 Bibby in the Goodwin auction here a few weeks ago and got it today. I like the SGC cases for these cards more than PSA but this is a set that I want to have in PSA holders and this card was an improvement than the SGC card I had in my collection. It is a PSA 5 (MC) as the centering on this issue is a complete bear at times. I need to get this set over 95% and get some badges and could have done it this year but I got lazy and did not sub cards this size. I'll keep plugging along on this set as I buy wrestling all stars, etc image

This was the last n28 1887 Allen and Ginter card I needed to have all seven cards in PSA 7 or better!

It is in the wrong type of holder but very excited to add a "new" 19th century wrestling card to my collection. This will have to find a home in a PSA holder soon.

I had the Duncan Ross card for some time and got an altered stock on one of my subs but found another copy and have this to go into my set.
