Not my pics, hope u don't mind illini420. One of my favorite designs, the reverse by Sinnock is very artistic.
Morgan did a superb job on the overse, classic pondering Abe. Was the obverse based on a painting?
Just scooped it up off the BST. Has the look I want, and the price was right.
65's seem to be north of $600, a little more than I wanted to spend.
Post a raw commem.

Love that lincoln. I have one that's raw with a similar look, but it's cleaned.

and these are all in at PCGS right now (these bottom three, the top coins are still here and will be submitted later). The one in the stapled cellophane is proof-like 1947-S a min of 67+ [okay, I am hopeful, I want a pop 1 coin for my boys and mine collection]

Very nice, glad you got it. I was teetering on the brink of buying it myself! I think it is one of the better designs, and really benefits from nice peripheral toning. Congrats.

Always loved em, just something about the designs.
Maybe it's the historical significance of all of them.
Modern commems just don't do it for me.

As soon as I saw it, I knew it was the one I wanted. I can't tell how many times I've
waited a couple days, and the coin is sold.

Great looking coin. That reverse design is one of the top 5 designs out of all the Commems!

Anyone know how many satin proofs were struck.
A pic of one would be swell. How about pops? What is the highest grade?

According to Swiatek and Breen's Commem Encyclopedia, there are two know satin finishes. I personally don't know if that figure has changed since publication and I don't have any pics.

when I Googled it. Never imagined I would use the word Googled.
Also rumored to be a proof version with cameo devices. Anyone?

Thanks for the nice comments... definitely one of my favorite classic commems and probably one of my favorite overall coin designs. Growing up in Illinois probably influences my opinion just a bit

The obverse is based on a statue of Lincoln that is in Springfield, IL near the state capitol building. One of Morgan's best engravings I think. Here's a couple of pics of the statue I found on the web (i'm sure there are better photos out there somewhere):




The reverse is based on the IL state seal, which is also on the IL state flag.
