Shots Fired During Robbery Attempt
Thu, 06/16/2011 - 11:36am — ncic
Roseville, MI - ROBBERY ATTEMPT-SHOTS FIRED

On June 14, 2011 at approximately 11:00am two masked gunmen attempted to rob the Coin Cove in Roseville, Michigan. The owner, Gene Christian, said the suspects came in through the front door waving guns and shouting for everyone to get down on the floor. At the time, six customers were in the store along with Mr. Christians wife.

Mrs. Christian ran to the rear of the store and was followed by one of the suspects. Mr. Christian rushed to help his wife and was able to retrieve a gun that he kept in the shop. One shot was fired by Mr. Christian and several shots were fired by the suspects. The suspects fled the store. No one was hurt. No inventory was taken during the incident.

The suspects were black and one could have possibly been a female. No other information is available at this time.

Wow... good job chasing them off... amazing that no one was hit (although, statistics show, marksmanship is incredibly bad when the average person is under stress). Cheers, RickO

Years ago I would go into this one shop where typically 3 people were working at any given time...and they all wore guns on their hips....one guy wore 2 guns. It was not the best neighborhood but through conversations with them...they never had any problems. image Oh, they also had a buzzer system on the door that you had to press for anyone to be let in...the camera took pretty pictures of you prior to your entry as well.

Glad the good guys were not hurt in this particular case!

Thank G-d Mr Christian had a gun. Too bad the perps weren't shot dead at the scene although I don't know what Michigan "law" is regarding defending yourself and your property.

Hopefully they won't return. Since they were not caught I would be worried about a revenge situation since their plans were ruined. It makes you wonder if it is better to let them take what they want and collect the insurance. In that scenario though you have to hope they don't decide to shoot you.

Have you ever seen the movie Walking Tall? The original, not the re-make, it addresses your thoughts on "wonder if it is better to let them take what they want and collect the insurance." image

I'm glad none of the innocent individuals were injuried. Unfortunately the perps live to cause mayhem another day.
The longer I live the more convincing proofs I see of this truth, that God governs in the affairs of men. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without His notice is it possible for an empire to rise without His aid? Benjamin Franklin
