Depending on that, I will lowball on MS65FB or MS66FB. Looks nice though, so I am thinking MS66FB

I'll buy coins that look like this in 64 holders for 64 money all day long. The lack of little tics goes a long way, you should see some of my 64 Mercs. But I suck at taking pics, so unfortunately, you won't.

Actually with Mercury Dimes "Tics" Dont mean too much in regards of TPG grading. Of course you and I want a coin that lacks "Tics" but to get a high grade you must have ridiculous luster! With any series you must have great luster but I feel that with Mercs it is expected more than any other series.

True, I have noticed that on my examples. Any particular reason for the importance of luster on Mercs?
Also, I do think the coin in the OP would have a shot at a +. So I should say a shot at 66+FB.

The Number one reason for importance of luster on Mercs is their availability. There are some serious Luster bomb Mercs. The reason I think "tics" are discounted on mercs so much is because of the size of the coin. The location of the tic definitley plays a major role of the grading (as with most series). The cheeks need to be clean! The tics on the top of the Phygrian cap for the coin in question probably dont matter too much. One or two ticks on the axe is to be expected and is accepted even on MS69 examples. All the fields should be clear.

You can see some of the spotting without magnification but it's not a major distraction. Unfortunately I think the spotting would preclude the coin getting a 67 grade.
The coin has very nice luster and other then the spotting no distractions on the cheek or fields so I think a 65-66 is about right.
As far as being in a 64 holder at a 64 price, that would be a bargin IMHO
BTW, the coin is raw and in a snap holder.
