"Its mintage has been limited to just 5,000 strikes, with only 300 available in Australia."
What's up with that? Why would an Aussie mint limit an Aussie coin to just 300 in Aussie land?
It seems unAussie.

<< <i>A lot of Mint's limit their proof's to small numbers. The 2010 5 oz proofs Libertads had a mintage of only 2,000.
That's a cool coin.
Not really looking for much these days but if I were, it might be a toner.
<< <i>Idiotic premium! Makes the america the beautiful pucks look like a hell of a bargain! >>
Agree to a certain extend. If the Mint ever decides to produce a puck proof with a similar low mintage of the koala or libs....well I suspect the price in the secondary markets would shoot up well over $500+

Every time I get frusterated at the amount of products the US mint is cranking out I just take a peek at what the Perth mint is churning out.
Transformers 3 coins, anyone?
<< <i>I got to pet one of those at an animal park in Melbourne! All they do is sleep. I'm still not convinced I wasn't petting a puppet.

Yup...they are cranking out what sells. May not be considered a numismatic item to us, but sure is to a lot of collectors around the globe. Look at all the stuff, and I'm being polite, that's being generated by the Cook Islands. BTW, I'm having a hard time locating them in the Atlantic.
