I must be living right.
I was going through a very large box of used GSA presentation boxes today. Some are in decent condition, some not-so-great, so I was sorting them for a client who wishes to buy the not-so-great boxes. I guess there were over 100 in this particular box which had been in storage for almost 10 years. I originally bought the empty boxes from JR Walters when I bought his collection many years ago.
I normally open every box as I pull them out because I often find GSA cards...sometimes some better-date cards. Last Sunday I found a neat document from a Carson City Bank dated 1887 in one of the boxes.
Near the bottom of the box I pulled one out that had a familiar weight to it. And sure enough, there was a GSA CC dollar inside, complete with card! An 1881-CC that I'd say is a lock 64 and shot 65.
Thanks JR!!!!!

What's your secret?
I like it.
I wished I owned just one, GSA CC Morgan!
I'll drive over the hill to pick this up in the morning!
The name is LEE!
<< <i>Maybe I should do a give away. I almost feel guilty.
now your talking !!!!!
Count me in please
<< <i>Not remembering about that coin does deserve a giveaway

Wasn't that I didn't remember it, I never knew it was there. And I doubt JR even knew it was there. Yesterday was the first time I'd opened the large box and started going through the black presentation boxes. As my dad always said, when you're lucky, slop will do for brains.
I suggest you list it on ebay and then start a thread here about "Guess the final sales price". That should make for a fun and lengthy thread...
See http://www.doubledimes.com for a free online reference for US twenty-cent pieces
What was this? "Last Sunday I found a neat document from a Carson City Bank dated 1887 in one of the boxes."
ya, thats what i wanna see.
and i agree, the coin is a lock 4 ,or 5 maybe/probably/should.
ccs` get that 1/2 point consideration anyways.
This is not my area at all this CC document stuff - I don't understand - are the two signatures of Mr. Sabin supposed to be in two different hands?
Best and thanks?
Eric
