<< <i>IMHO a fine/thin tip Staedlter is the way to go considering Tyson's sloppy signature. I find that ultra fine sharpies are unreliable and are more prone to smear and/or skip. >>
John,
Do you have a fine point Staedtler to take to the signing? I only have the medium points or I'd send you one to use.
In my package I sent you, I asked you to use a fine point sharpie, but I'm going back and forth in my head. If David posts a nice blue ballpoint and it looks nice, I may prefer that on the Paninii, but I'll let you know for sure in plenty of time. I do know that if I send you a 2nd package with the foil panini with Hagler, then I'd definitely like that one signed in fine tip Staedtler if you have it, I think that's the only thing that will successfully adhere to that card.
Mike, I have both fine and medium tip staedtlers. If you opt for a ball point pen I would check out Uni-ball Jet Stream bold 1.0mm ball point pens. I have been using those on my OMLB's and I couldn't be more happy. I would just be a little hesitant on the panini since it is kind of glossy. I am curious to see David's test because maybe I am wrong and a ball point pen is the way to go.
Thanks, Mike! Of his '86 cards - this one has the most interesting photo (the other two being headshots). That said, I'm afraid it won't probably ever have the appeal that his '86 Panini's do.
I'm very interested to see what one of the '86 rookies with an auto would fetch. I think you'll do very well. As for the QOS that I just got back - one may or may not be listed on the bay already
Great grades on the qos. I thoght it would be tough to get a 9 on these with the green backs and crummy stock. I'd be interested to see how this would do on ebay.
Thank you. I'm interested to see, as well. These cards are almost all well-centered, but from the ones I've seen the green back is tough and the corners are often nicked up.
I just listed one with a BIN/OBO - we'll see what the interest is like.

I'm sure you know this already, but the first one on the table typically goes for a lot more than subsequent offerings IMO. Don't think too long and let someone beat you to the punch.
Good luck with your sale, hope it does well for you. I love to watch the signed rookies sell for a TON (unless I need them, LOL)
Mike you are correct, in life sometimes we have to learn the hard way versus following others. In the long run it make us wise.
I look at people in 2 simple ways. Leaders and followers. First off neither is better than the other, rather just different. Without Leaders followers would have no one to lead them, and without followers, Leaders would have no one to lead.
Being on both sides of the coin, or having a happy balance is the key!
I just saw a BGS 9.5 Manny Pacquiao Allen and Ginter Auto BGS 9.5 with a current bid of $1,625. Wow this is a little shocking. I had no idea he would bring that kind of money but it is what it is.
Your Mike Tyson Panini Auto could go for some serious cash I think. If you decide to let it run do a $0.99 10 day auction with no reserve. You want to get a lot of eye balls to see it and early bidders will have 10 days to fall in love and have to have it in their collection.
I would think your item could bring $500+++ easy. Good luck either way.
Pacquiao seems to be way more popular with collectors than I thought. Is his auto tough to get? I remember seeing a handcut card from a japanese magazine from early 2000 late 90s sell for over 150 bucks. The card was terribly cut and I don't think it is recognized by any of the major grading companies. I was prett shocked that it sold for so much.
I've only been collecting boxing cards for a couple of years now, so I'm still learning - but what I have noticed is there are some diehard collectors who will pay big bucks for the right boxing items. Granted, there is obviously a much smaller market for boxing cards than the big four sports - but the right card will bring some big bids at auction. And unfortunately I see this almost on a weekly basis when my (high) snipe bids don't even come close to a hammer price.
I'm still blown away by how much some Boxing cards (and Golf cards, for that matter) - are selling for.
This auction may be a one off but the Question of Sport is at $81 on EBAY with a few hours to go. Another Tyson card went for $40 recently that you used to be able to buy all day for $3.
I figured this would happen. 2 things helped the qos card. 1 was the attention the panini sales brought to Tyson cards and 2 was bgs and sgc slabbing the card. There were 2 or 3 random unlicensed cards from the 80s that I think the qos got lumped together with. Having the card slabbed gives it som credibility. I don't think the qos will ever pass the panini. But like I've been saying.... The huge spread in price should narrow.
Thanks to big 80's and a few other finds I have been building my Mike Tyson RC PC collection. Since I did get two of his 86 Panini's signed at the National, I decided to part ways with one of them tonight at auction.
Any guesses as to what it will end at?? Just curious as to everyone's opinions on it.
That's a great looking card! I put in a good solid starting bid, to get things started for ya. I would estimate it'll sell in excess of $400. And I know it's not considered cooth to post a link to your own auctions - so here's a link to Mike's auction for those that want to follow/bid: Mike Tyson rookie Auto
I placed six bids and put it over a hundred....that is a great card and even better signed. Good luck!

I decided to bid again after posting and won it. I needed it about like I needed a hole in my head but I had the UK version signed already, the QOS signed, and the Panini with Hagler signed, so I decided to complete the quartet of his rookies and pick it up.
I think you got it at a nice price. When you consider what it takes to replace it and then with signing fees. I would have thought it would have been even higher.

Stock market is affecting a lot right now. I've been watching the trends. People are holding on to cash waiting for good news with Europe, our economy, the job market, banking sectors, etc. It's not a great time to sell, but a great time to buy.
There are the smallest amount of auctions currently that are over $500 that I've seen in awhile on EBay. I've balanced out with Gold, and dividend stocks.
Over 50 percent recently poll that we are in a recession. Who knows. One thing for sure though is there are some great deals everywhere. Longer term deals. 2 to 4 years.

It should be here sometime this week I believe.
I will keep you posted.

Awesome, thanks David,

No luck in the mail today. Since the package is coming from the tiny island of Cyprus it takes for ever.
Maybe tomorrow!
