Now that's a weak strike

I know Dahlonaga had some weak strikes but NITED?

P.S. This coin is in the Long Beach Heritage auction but I have nothing to do with it other than wishing it was mine.

  • Not a weak strike, imho.
Looks more like a grease filled (or other cause) die.

Typical D mint strike for a type 3 gold dollar. These coins were struck on very thin planchets which means there wasn't much metal to fill the design recesses of the dies.

Worry is the interest you pay on a debt you may not owe.

This is good to know PerryHall
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

    The name is LEE!
  • I wouldn't consider that a weak strike, but a defective die (likely filled with grease or foreign debris).
