Do you collect cards of someone you went to school with?

I graduated in the same class in HS with James Jones of the Miami Heat, and collect his cards.

Not from my school but...

Santana Moss went to a rival high school, I'm a big collector of his cards.

Rohan Davey also went to a rival HS. I collected his cards in the past but mostly because he is a cousin of my friend.

  • I haven't added to it in a while but I collect cards of guys that went to Ole Miss and obviously would've gone to school and kinda know some of them. Same with guys (and gals) from my high school that made it to the pros even if we didn't graduate in the same class (i.e. Matt Lawton, Greg Hibbard, Marcus Lawton)

I collected Jason Elam cards since we both went to high school (Brookwood in Snellville, GA) together but haven't actively collected him since he's retired now. Also, I now collect cards of Rennie Curran, who also went to our high school, but just 15 years later. I watched him play football throughout high school and then at UGA, so I figured I might as well get some of his cards. I still find great enjoyment in still watching every one of my high school's football games on Friday nights.

  • I buy a few cards here and there of Tony Stewart. We went to the same middle school (Northside, Columbus, IN).

I remember he once got in trouble during science class. Everyone was doing their lab reports but he was drawing pictures of go carts.

Doug, George and I all graduated high school together. Doug, at 6'7", was known more for his basketball skills back then (he was our power forward because we had a 6'10" center). George and I first met in freshman biology where we were lab partners.

    Now for the old guy.

Went to Chamberlain HS - Tampa - was friendly with Steve Garvey - his lifelong friend was my best friend senior year - and no did not play with him - could not make the varsity team - wish I could say I did.

I don't collect his stuff - not interested. He was a good guy - quiet - not very egotistical and friendly.

Brewer joins Jordan, Iverson, and Rick Barry tonight as the only players to score 50 points and have 6 steals in a game.

    Congrats!

  • Terrell Davis used to go to the same gym. Barry Bonds once lived across the street from me in the mid 90s. Would see him at the local mini mart all the time. Never would sign autographs for anyone. Also a current player in MLB who already has a W.S. Ring with a near MVP run in his first 5 years, I worked out with him daily in this past off season. Couple other kids I played baseball against in high school are floating around with some nice bowman chrome autos. Lindsey Davenport lived down the street as well.

Didn't go to high school with any pros. Went to college with several NHL guys - Mike Eastwood, Keith Jones, Jamal Mayers and a couple others. Didn't know them but had friends who were friends with Mayers. Don't collect any of their cards but would like to own a Jones hockey Jersey some day.

I DO collect cards of Junior Herndon, whom I coached in high school and who made it to the majors for a cup of coffee in 1998. Lots of minor league and prospect cards of him.

No. Went to De La Salle HS in Chicago, in same division as Mt. Carmel.. Don't collect their cards but saw Antoine Walker, Donovan McNabb and Simeon Rice play basketball/football with Mt. Carmel.

Garrett Wolfe played at my HS long after I graduated (Holy Cross)
It was fun watching him play, I thought the Bears didn't use him the right way.
In football I played against Jeff Zgonina (Carmel)
In basketball I played against Nick Anderson (Prosser) at the summer league at Triton JC.
  • Steve Rogers. Have all of his main-stream cards.

I was a big collector of Archi Cianfrocco. Archi is from my hometown of Rome, NY and played for the Expos and Padres in the mid to late 90s. I believe at one point I had every one of his cards, and when I through away all of my junk cards, I kept his. He was quite a bit older than me, so I dont remember him playing high school ball.

I also collected cards of Mark Lemke and Andy Van Slyke around the same time (early to mid 90s). They were quite a bit older than me, and were from neighboring hometowns.

I also collected cards of Pat Riley for awhile. My father and Pat were neighbors on Roosevelt Ave in Rome NY, and my Dad was very good friends with Pat's older brother. Pat's family moved to Schenectady, and that's where many bios will say he's "from" now.
