Trouble finding pre-WWII cards

Hello universe. I have been collecting some of these sets for years and are simply upgrading, but I have much difficulty in even finding the cards. I live in mid-MI and use ebay and a couple shows in Chicago, plus pssoibly a national, for the hobby. Any other ideas out these as I have looked in a lot of places w/o luck. Im primarily collecting:
1915 Cracker Jack in lower grade
1922 american caramel in any grade
1934 goudey in gd-vg
1934 diamond stars
1940-41 play ball in vg
1949 bowman in gd-vg

Ive been for a&g cards as well but only ebay for those. Any ideas out there would be much appreciated.
Always looking for Cracker Jacks!

Some of those will pop up here on occasion. The Net 54 boards tend to focus on this time period, so that might be a bigger audience for you.

Have you tried Mike Wheat Cards?I know that he at one time had a fine inventory of pre war stuff. He usually sets up at the National also.

  • Yeah, I actually got my 40 play ball starter set from the man. I got some cracker jacks from him too, but he still is overpriced. It sounds like there are a lot of shows near pittsburgh though, can anyone attest to that? I got quite a few 34 goudey off the feebay tonite though including a foxx.

The hunt is part of the fun. Welcome image
  • Oh the hunt....Im 9 yrs deep on the 55 topps set w/ 2 to go, 5 yrs in on my 34 goudey set that i decided to upgrade, and many other sets that are all into the years now w/ the 1915 cracker set making it to 1 year this month. Ive managed 36/176 cards w/ a few stars including the brown and comiskey but lacking one of the big cards from the set. We have no shows here anymore and the interenet has become the only outlet. We go to cleveland and chicago if its worth effort and ive thought about pittsburgh but there doesnt seem to be as many tables but all you need is a couple with vintage at the right price to make the trip worth it.

those are some very common sets, should have no trouble. Post your want list on Net54 in the B/S/T, and do searches on eBay.

You also may want to use some ACC numbers in searches, ie E120 for the 1922 Am.Caramel, E145-2 for the CJs, and R320 for the '34 Goudeys, etc.
