If they do pop it up $2T this spring, will that be the largest one time increase in U.S. history?
<< <i>I realize most markets have already factored in $2 trillion being added to the debt ceiling this month, but it will make interesting fodder for the media.

Yes, $2T at one time will be the biggest increase.

<< <i>We also spend 3 trillion since 2001 on three wars. Congress is telling the American people to pay for these wars you will not have any retirement entitlements anymore. U.S. workers contribute $856 Billion to Social Security each year. In effect, Congress stole the trust of the american people to essentially pay for these wars. >>
I dont consider SS an "entitlement" program. If you pay into something, you should take something out. Food stamps, government subsidized housing, subsidized child care, and free cell phones are entitlement programs and are truly the bain of America today. Fast fact: 1 in every 7 Americans eats on the taxpayer's dime. Thats right.....there are now 45,000,000 Americans on food stamps today. In the 30's, it was breadlines that let you know times were tough. But the breadlines have been changed into a less noticeable problem via electronically recharged swipe cards. If there were 45,000,000 Americans lining up each day to get bread, I think people would wake up and take notice!
