He has been commenting that the B&M dealers seem to not have silver for sale when the price comes down. Just look at the BST. With the exception of a few ATB sets, there is very little silver available. A week ago it seemed every other thread was for 90% or bars/rounds.

Not the case on eBay...Tons of Rounds & Bars available and most are fetching a hefty premium.

I was expecting to see sold out signs at my dealer also, but to my surprise he had a few hundred ounces of silver in various forms. He was actually making phone calls to customers that requested them when he got more in. The premiums on his Eagles went up a dollar to 4.00 over spot but I don't think that's too bad.

Indeed. It would interesting to note the % that close this weekend under $40/oz. image

No problem here finding Silver , i bought a load of Canadian timber wolfs at a nice price.I don't think the BST is a very good gauge to go by for availibility, could be the sellers on there dont want to sell to a crowd that knows what the going price is when peeps on ebay are still paying last weeks price.

I bid on 12 auctions yesterday for 10 ounce bars. Average final price was $42/oz. Only one auction sold less than $40/oz ($38.80 an ounce before shipping).

At least for 10 ounce bars the average ebay price today is around $42.50/oz. Subtract about $2/oz when you factor in 2% ebay buck and 3% rebate programs.

Nothing makes much sense right now. But there are fresh worries about the Euro this evening. Big worries.

Maybe this will end up happening after all. They have it, but you're going to pay well above Spot/Melt for it.

There is a HUGE difference between the price people are paying and the price the sellers receive. A seller at $42 will incur about 12% in fees for a net of about $37--not too far from spot. But WOW, what a "drive off the lot" price hit.

Are you talking about B&M sellers, or BST sellers?

Would you agree that BST sellers are not, as a rule, B&M's?

I have visited a total of 6 B&Ms Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Five of them had plenty o' silver (various forms and sizes) and they were still charging their regular premiums (i.e. what they charged prior to the big drop last week).

Only one location had none for sale; sounds like he was sitting on a pile in the mid-40s and didn't want to let it go yet.

That sounds about right. For most B&M's it is business as usual, but because one guy decides to gamble that metals will go up before he sells (as opposed to going down and causing him to lose MORE money) some people will stereotype ALL dealers as doing this.

All generalizations are wrong, including this one.

i'd like to know what dealer ever charged a normal price of .25 over spot for .999,
i do not believe that one at all,
in 09 or any other year for that matter (info from 09 premium link)

There are several dealers in my area that were selling at Spot when it was going up so quickly. They'd buy it at $40, the next day Spot was $43. Why would they hold if they have someone willing to pay Spot at $43 the next day?
Of course, believe what you want to though.

Are you refering to speaking to me? I don't recall you ever pm'ing me. Was it with that profile? image
