$8.86 and $646

Thats what im in for on the silver and gold that has survived my 30% total recent sell-off.

Pre-Monday, I had 1,000oz of silver in which I was DCA'd at around $20/oz. Sold 300oz Monday @ $46. Since I had a total of $20,000 my own cash into those 1,000 oz and I got $13,800 out on the 300 oz sale, im now into the remaining 700 oz at just $6,200 of my own money, or $8.86/oz.

Pre-Monday, I held 21.7 oz of gold in which I was DCA'd at around $900/oz. Sold 6 oz Monday @ $1564. Since I had a total of $19,530 my own cash into those 21.7 oz and got $9,384 out on the 6 oz sale, im now into the remaining 15.7 oz at just $10,146 of my own money, or $646/oz.

Disclaimer: This was just pure dumb luck that I was able to liquidate 30% of my entire holdings at the virtual top. It coincided with our decision to buy a summer get a way place. So far, that summer place has turned out, indirectly, to be one GREAT investment!!!

Probably more than dumb luck. You had a feeling that silver was well priced so why not take advantage of that. If silver was still at $22 and climbing back up as in last
fall, you just might have waited.

so if you had only one ASE left and 1/10 AGE (as an example) you could REALLY gloat about your SAC and GAC, eh?

hope you enjoy the summer place....i'm just ambivalent regarding the numbers in your post.

timing worked very well in your favor.image

I started buying bullion in 2001 at $6/ozt for ASEs (there was a time that was all I'd buy). Then had phenominal good fortune mining half dollar rolls for another 6+ years till the well seemed to run dry.
Made a hell'ava good trade for all those stinky halves in Jan. '09 and came home with 3 MBs of ASEs, 2-'08s & 1-'09. Also took some cash and paid off some nagging bills and the GF & I took a nice Destin, FL vacation from those ol'halves. I ended up with about $5 (FV for 90 & 40% + prem) an ounce in the 3 boxes of ASEs. Been buying a lil on the dips every since. Just bought a tube of Prospectors for $35ozt. My DCA, allthough I don't keep up with it that closely, is I'm sure is still under $12.

Anyhoo, I hear you guys talk about "free rolling" but what would I do with the FRNs . . . buy more silver at a higher cost? I still have a good job, only debt is a small mortgage and monthly living expenses, and I can't think of any place better to have FRNs right now than in physical PMs. Hope to retire (again) in about 4 years, then I'll start to unload some as needed.

    Anyway, that's the ol'halfhunters story . . . image

Need the following OBW rolls to complete my 46-64 Roosevelt roll set:
    1947-P & D; 1948-D; 1949-P & S; 1950-D & S; and 1952-S.
Any help locating any of these OBW rolls would be gratefully appreciated!
