Oh Lord. BGS is gonna be busy with '70s and '80s OPC hockey submissions...

...if you get my meaning.

Mile High #1

Mile High #2

Mile High #3

I've never seen an auction offer this many OPC hockey sheets from this era. 2nd year Gretzky and rookies of Bossy, Coffey, Gartner, Statsny, Bourque, Roy, Messier, Clark, etc etc.

There is a LOT of money to be made from unsuspecting buyers if (i.e. when) these sheets are trimmed.

Pay attention, PSA! Don't let these get by your graders!

The top bidders will probably be a who's who of unscrupulous characters.
"My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. Our childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When we were insolent we were placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds - pretty standard really."
  • I know who one of the bidders will be on this. I saw these and could not believe my eyes.

They just need a PSA holder for uncut sheets. Talk about oversized.

I can't believe the PSA 9 1969 Tom Seaver is currently above $5k! VCP has consistently been around $600-$800 with the high of $1095 in a previous Mile High auction. I guess there are two deep pocket collectors whose only avenue for acquisitions is Mile High.

Beckett will grade "curled up" cards as long as they are mint. They can flatten them out by putting them under a heavy object for a while
after the cut. Not sure if they can get the total curve out. That's why these sheets will be a much bigger project then the mastro sheets, which were not curled up, but came flat from a pallet.
  • Looks like this guy may have won that auction.

So is ebayer "Pristine Paper" known for purchasing sheets and waving a wand to make them BGS 9.5's/PSA 10's? Are his initials MS? Sorry - no idea who that is.

If someone can cut a sheet well enough for the card to make into a psa or bgs slab then I don't really have a problem with it. Infect I think there should be a premium for sheet cut opc cards. There can't be that many uncut sheets out there so an opc card with a clean cut would be much more scarce. The key is determining what is post production sheet cut and what has been trimmed. I kno people appreciat the opc rough cut but I don't really. I'm also not a hardcore opc collector. Kinda like cleaning coins. I don't get why you shouldn't shine up an old coin... I know it's a big no no in the coin collecting world... But I'd rather have shined up one.
Scans of most of my Misc rookies can be found <a target=new class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://forums.collectors.com/m...y&keyword1=Non%20major">here

Geez. Maybe time to invest in a "pristine" cutter. Any recommendations?

    Thanks,
