  • You scared me; I thought for a moment that you didn't do unto others as you would have them do unto you. We're all guilty of buying holders at some point, be it rattlers, doilys, or the exotic black holder across the lake. This one is a nice pedigree from the Chalice of the Palace. But, remember, it's the Vestile with the Pestile that holds the Brew That is True...

Is that the one I saw at a show in a dealer case who was from... Michigan??

I think I've pondered buying that one holder before, and think I've seen that specific coin shown at a Baltimore Whitman show.

I know Danny Kaye was a prankster, I watched a many of his TV shows. In the photograph, he's looking up, I assume at the sandbags suspended from the ropes behind him...scheming a plan. He was a great comedian.

Nothing to cross. It is already in a PCGS holder and a nice one, too.

I'm old enough to remember Danny Kay, so I will give thumbs up! Awesome and probably undervalued !

It seems most of the surviving Regency slabs have Israeli coins from the Danny Kay collection. Anyone have any idea what percentage of these Regency slabs contain a U.S. coin? Many years ago I was fortunate to buy an 1852 U.S. gold dollar in a Regency slab off of eBay without paying any premium for the slab.

Yes Ron Sirna was at my table, but he had nothing to do with this coin, I mean holder ... I picked it up earlier this month at a show in Wisconsin. Pondered keeping it myself, but sold it to Marty so he would leave the show happy- LOL

I like it Marty. Danny Kaye was one of my very favorites when I was a kid. Great memories.

I've seen several of these Danny Kaye slabs within the last few years. I almost consider them to be Judaica as opposed to numismatic material.

If you plan to flip it, I wouldn't wait too long. The average Danny Kaye fan is probably close to 80 years old and doesn't have too many collecting years left.

    its different. way cool image
  • I didn't know that Danny Kaye was Jewish. It seems all the great comics are--him, Mel Brooks, right up to today with John Stewart.

You'll be glad to know I'm 38, so the fandom will live on to see the rise of the cyborgs in the 2040s. And, The Court Jester will be just as funny. Dr. Phlox seemed to get a kick out of it while working on board the first Starship Enterprise about 140 years from now.
