April 24, 2011: A Sterling kind of day

Put the "old" field on hold in hopes for some jewelry at a local swimming hole. Even though I was really hoping for some gold, did manage 3 pieces of sterling. Apparently I missed the memo that it was "mangled silver day," but it's still silver!
First silver find of the day was the bracelet - it's broken
2nd was the horribly mangled toe ring - this is after I tried straightening it!
3rd is an older (maybe 50s) Sterling "Kiddiegem" ring with a nice design. It might be amethyst, or it could be plastic. The shank is broken. I don't think I did it, but I think it was caused when the tightly packed dirt in the shank expanded when it froze.

<< <i>At $47 an oz Silver finds are looking very good. >>
They total 9 grams, so that's better than a sharp stick in the eye!
What are you hunting with, detectorwise?

Oops, just saw this! I use a Minelab E-trac with a Pistol Probe on the side.
