The color is very suspect! But if it grades, it goes MS65.

Gorgeous coin. And in my bombastic way, I will say, obviously a 66.

And, of course, I will predict that the first 10 grades guessed, less the highest and lowest, averaged together will come miraculously close to the grade that should have been and may actually have been assigned.

    MS-65+ very nice. image

    Hoard the keys.
  • If she is less than MS-65 she is under-grazed by PCGS, period

Nice looking coin, but the grade depends on how heavily they weight the three scratches on the obverse. Maybe the large photo is making them more visible, but to see grade guesses of 65 and 66 on a coin with three scratches on the portrait is surprising. Certainly the color and strike are very nice though, and the rev is gem+ all the way

Looks like a fairly lengthy but well-hidden diagonal contact mark that runs into the large feather. I'll guess NGC 65 -- toning is very nice but our kind hosts might not grade it.
By the way, I like it! Thanks for sharing.

Nice catch. I didn't see it the first time but I see it now. Might it be a staple scratch?

MS65..... that tarnish is very suspect.... I did that on a dateless buff once using Kraft salad dressing and aspirin. Cheers, RickO

As I mentioned in my post, there are are actually three scratches on the portrait. This one mentioned here is the worst of them, but the other two are not insignificant, IMO, when assigning a grade to a mint state coin. But maybe I'm just overcritical.

Stunning! great strike and original . I do see the light scratch....but The coin does belong in a 65+ holder as they don't come much better than this coin . Thanks Todd for posting !!! This coin belongs in crazyhounddogs collection!image

It's a beauty, and just the kind of Buff I like. I would not be surprised to see this coin as a 65+ and that's my guess....Joe

  • I saw this coin in hand at the Baltimore show, and I must say, the pictures do not do it justice AT ALL. The color is original 100% and it is more vibrant in hand, the luster just pops out and shimmers through the rainbow creating a very one of a kind coin. The contact marks are minimal and not very noticeable at all as they fall within the hair detail. I have several NGC buffalo's with the star designation and this coin would fit right in with an elite collection.
