What percentage of coins has PCGS graded...

dated before 1800?
dated before 1900?

Also, how long will it be before all coins dated before 1800 will be graded by a third party?

Thanks,

Chris

Just because I'm old doesn't mean I don't love to look at a pretty bust.

I believe PCGS started in the 1980s, so they didn't grade anything before 1900.

Before 1800? My guess is 5%.

Before 1900? My guess is 1%.

All coins before 1800? Time to pull out the never card. EACers in particular like their coins raw and most of their raw coins will change hands from one EAC member to the next, even if they pass away.

Keep in mind most coins are not worth sending in for grading. Another factor is NGC has a bigger market share as far as coins submitted. Most old coins are of low value, average circulated, with many beat up and problem coins. Who would send in an average circulated common date Indian cent? The coin might have a retail value of $2, and a wholesale value of 50 cents. These are probably the most common pre-1900 coins out there.
