Question: 1876 CC Sitting Liberty Dime

Probably normal for the issue or a hit but stood out to me looking more at it as something funky going on with that E compared to the other E. This can be seen with the naked eye. Im wondering is it a repunched E and is that something that is normal for the time period that they would repunch an E in ONE? I though that was only done for mint marks and dates

<< <i>looking on the site i found this. 108a Seems to be the closest to the coin i have mine is a little bit more worn BUT if its really from really rusted dies which takes away all the detail the fact the dealer had this listed as a VG perhaps this is a grade or 2 higher due that fact. I dont know I can see make out the BERTY of liberty with my eye. Maybe my coin is a EDS compared to the LDS that is shown on the page >>
Looks like a match to me. Very neat coin.

<< <i>That is a doubled die, not repunching, if you look at the side of the shield you can see some nice doubling there as well. This is a variety that pops up on eBay unattributed on occasion, usually in very low grades, I've picked a couple there myself. The 1876-CC in general is a trove of varieties, there is a tremendous DDO for the date as well.

The DDO is spectacular. More discussion on this at the LSCC meeting at Central States.
